Hello all, a long time modder, first time foundry user here. I've dedicate this weekend to learning the Foundry and I'm working on a quest line to give me an opportunity to learn all the tools.

What I am finding however, is that I'm missing a LOT of information and having a hell of a time finding websites that have that information. This is really slowing down my learning curve, as I have to go in and experiment with every little thing.

For instance, If want want to know the unit of measurement of time the "Linger time" variable in an encounter's behaviour is, I can't reference a page somewhere, I have to enter a random time and then guess. This is only after a very long loading process, and running though all the steps to get there. Very frustrating and time consuming.

Is there a resource somewhere that has all the variables, and other details about the Foundry yet?

If not, am I really reduced to searching and posting all 7 million of my Foundry questions on the boards? A lot of what I'm wondering about does not seem to exist on the internet yet. I'm assuming it's because the game is so new?

I'd love any links to good Foundry sites you guys my have.

Lastly, I'm currently trying to figure out how to get an encounters mobs to surrender at the end of the fight, and then start a lengthy dialogue chain. I was guessing you had to despwan the encounter mobs after they surrender, and then spawn NPC versions in their place? Is that the only way?

I feel like this is going to take forever to be able to leverage it for more complex adventures.

Help!

=)

I'm working on my first quest line, too, and am running into the same problems as you. I can tell you that one thing I've found to shorten the "test that thing" scenario is the "play from here" option. Under your story tab, click on the bit you want to test, then select "play from here." If you haven't noticed it before, you'll find yourself wondering how you managed without it.

You can also right click any walk-able spot on your map and play from that spot. So if you want to test a boss encounter or do 3d editing in that specific room it works well.
As far as the surrender then chat thing, yes i'm pretty sure the encounter needs to be hidden and NPCs of the same type need to appear in order to converse.

I personally haven't gone to any foundry sites, but i'm sure Googling NW Foundry Wiki and such will give you all the relevant sites.

Have to register to watch videos but it's worth it.
There is a rumor floating around that I am working on a new foundry quest. It was started by me.

Thanks for the responses so far guys. The tip about choosing a spot in the story and "play from here" is great! I knew how to play from here on the map, but now I know how to advance the quest to any point and that will make it tons faster. So thank you.
I also have a sub to nwugc.com already and there are some good tuts there, but still a ton of questions unanswered.
The google hangout is ok as well, but there is SO much missing still.
Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Regarding my other question about getting encounters to disappear and then load NPCs, I'm having trouble getting them to disappear at the right time. For some reason they wont just disappear when "objective complete" The objective being fight the encounter till submission. Tough stuff, that.

I don't understand your second point. Are you trying to get the NPC's to appear when the encounter is dead?

Actually, no. I'm trying to get the NPCs to spawn when the encounter "fights to submission" after that, I want the encounter to despawn at the same time that the NPCs spawn.

I think the best you can do is find the encounter in the component tree and set the linger time to how many seconds you want him to be there before he disappears.

edit: And the NPC would appear on this objective in progress as long as you have "Talk to NPC" or w/e in the storyboard.
