You aren't actually "rolling" in this game, you're choosing between preset stat allocations. The stats aren't randomly assigned like in Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale.
It's a nod to the pen and paper game, and allows for AWESOME customization.
We get to pick what stats we want to focus at the start, and then which to add on as we progress. It's an amazing system that puts control in the player's hand, instead of holding our hands like little twats.
Except that we can't really choose them. NWO's system is somewhere between a dice roll and a fixed array. I would have preferred a point buy system, at least then there's no overpowered/underpowered issues that a true dice roll system would have in an MMO... and at least in a point buy system I can choose where my stats are going without having to hit re-roll over and over until the array is allocated how I want it to be.
Fact is there actually is no "rolling" for attributes in this game. The "roll" simply cycles through several preset sets of stats that are based on chosen race and class. They are not randomly generated as they would be in a dice system or point bought like in 3.5.

If I wanted a change it would be back to the 'point bought' or here are the options for your 'race & class' pick one as the current system just wastes time until you know what the limits are...
Anyone want to go back to the AD&D days, where purists used 3D6 & rolled stats in order, then you ended up with a Dwarf with 16 STR, 12 CON, 3 INT , 8 DEX, 3 CHA, after several re-rolls 'cos you didn't get the minimum STR & CON (12) ?

Rolling a character has always been one of the most fun, emotional, intense, frustrating, rewarding and overall awesome experiences a roleplayer had during his lifetime, in fact, the lost of rolling for character sheets was a loss for the game, even if made a lot of sense and overall improved the game in terms of balance, people often forgets that in a fantasy game not everything has to have balance, not everything has to make sense... people is ok with the game twisting laws of physics, but they are annoyed about randomness...
I UNDERSTAND and ACCEPT and ENDORSE that in a MMO dice rolled characters make no sense, but even the simulacrum that NW gives us, feels right.
In fact, if Criptic allowed me to instead of the Founders pack buy an "old gamer hag" pack, with the possibility of rolling a character (3 rolls for example) with one life, only respawnable with really expensive exclusive resurection scrolls and a title named "hardcore player" or "stupid old hag" i would pay A LOT, seriously A FREAKING LOT of money for that...
