If a DPS keeps standing in red circles or squares and I stop healing him, letting him die, does that make me an A-hole?

If you don't put down a blue circle, so you can mitigate it, as most red circles are weaksauce, then you're not doing your job. If they're dying within a Astral Shield, then sucks to be them.
If you have no idea what Astral Shield is, then keep playing and don't worry about people dying yet.
I dunno xervai, most red circles I come across are the strongest attacks in the game. o.O
@cyandk18 - No you are being a saint, helping people l2play. Just because you have a Cleric does not mean it's time to go full HAMSTER and not avoid as much damage as you can still.
That's Neverwinter in a nutshell: Red circle? Don't stand in it. Blue circle? Stand in it. We're talking deep strategy here, folks.

I kinda wish the game showed a difference between "red circle - stand in me and take a little damage continually" and "red circle - you'll lose half your health and get knocked prone" and even "red circle - will one shot your sorry soul"

Thats why you should dodge everything you can. That 0.5sec of not DPSing won't make you looser for the life in game.
I have a Guardian Player and have a shield mitigation. There are blue circles????

It depends, if you are fighting an end boss and letting somebody die, most likely causing a wipe or at the very least making the fight much longer and harder, then yes, your an idiot and an A-hole for HAMSTER over the other 3 players (and yourself) just to prove a point to 1 idiot standing in red.
Now if its during trash or a mid boss where they can just run back, long as its not causing a wipe i'd say go for it, teach em a lesson
If they stand in circles (and sometimes it's really hard to avoid, either with "can't see clearly" or "stuck in the middle of a cast"), and take a lot of damage, but don't use a potion themselves, let em die. This is coming from a mostly DPS player too. Clerics here are nice, but i consider them an extra. Every class is a healing class for themselves, and have run dungeons without a problem when we didn't have a cleric, people just stopped zerging and used potions when needed.

Most red circle damage isn't Cleric burst-healable. It is most often pottable though. Either develop a drinking habit or move, pretty simple. If the Cleric could heal through any incoming damage, he'd be playing WoW, not NW.

I'm not saying they shouldnt be popping potions when needed, I know clerics can't burst heal like a healer in WoW, I have one. but if the cleric is actively seeing they are hurting and purposely not healing them just to prove a point, and then wiping the group because they are now down a person, then thats not just hurting the guy standing in the red circle, thats hurting the other 3 players that WERE being good and moving out of red.
Personally, I'd rather work a bit harder to save a stupid dps standing in red and finish the boss than waste the time, potions, and injury kits of me and 3 other players just to prove a point to 1 guy

Speaking as a TR - some times standing in red for a few extra seconds will make you kill the boss 2-3 times faster. I trade blows with bosses pretty often. So it depends on if they consciously doing this and control the situation so they don't die, or they are just bad.

You're absolutely correct, but **** it feels good to let idiots die when it's their own fault (admit it). Most times if you focus enough on an idiot in a red circle to actually save his butt, you've probably lost the fight anyway.
It's never just a matter of "I'm not healing you when you stand in a red circle", it's a bunch of things that all add up to a dead DPS. Different healing mechanics than other MMOs (I've healed through WoW, TSW, Rift, SWtOR, and now NW), DPS mesmerized by the pretty numbers, and DPS not using potions because "that's the Cleric's job". Just do your job, make sure everything has a shiny yellow swirly, top up who you can, DPS when it's an option, run around like a headless chicken when it isn't,and try to keep people topped up. If someone doesn't get out of red circles, it's his fault you wiped, not yours. You should never shoulder the blame for someone else's stupidity...
I admit. I stand in some red circles. SOME being the key word. Once you play enough, and get used to the patterns, you know which ones will break you and which ones you can ride through. I do it to bring the boss down faster (TR). But I won't risk a heavier hit just for a little dps. I've even slotted Can't Catch Me a few times just to stay on target, ignoring all the bad red. But...I also play a DC. I know how frustrating it is to stay mobile, deal with adds, drop AS, avoid the red, and generally bandage the group. Knowing the limitations of both classes helps me understand what I can and can't do as a TR.

It's called a teachable moment. Let him die- and hopefully he'll learn from it.
