Quest line placement

I am nearing the "polish it" phase of my first map and i still don't have a sparkly line to follow from one quest to the next... what would the common causes for this be? does it just not show before publishing?

I did search for it but the answer I am looking for is buried deep I guess...

"From one quest to the next"? Do you mean from one quest objective to the other? I've had issues with the trail while in Foundry Preview mode, but it always works when published, if set up correctly.

In the story tab every dialog or object or really anything you put in there has a waypoints option, set it to point for a trail, set it to area for a blob on the map and set it to none for no trail or marks on the map.

I believe that if the settings are correct as mentioned above and the quest works correctly, but just the trail is missing, it could be a pathing issue which may or may not dissapear when published. Check to see if there's a clear path for the trail - no obstacles blocking the way. You could also try and move a couple of the quest objectives close to each other with a clear path between and see if the trail pops up.

Besides, this could affect your map in a bad way, but not necessarily, depending on what is happening. If the trail can't find a path chances are that npc's and encounters can't either which could be bad, again, depending on the quest. If attacking encounters get stuck and can't reach the player you generally have to be very careful about what you're doing - especially if a ranged player can retaliate without danger.

Thanks for all the help! I will go check each of the quest objectives and see if I have point/area selected correctly, and check for pathing problems... and I'll even check the z key.
