[SUGGESTION] Until live, use BoP

Hello all,

With all the end game exploits and the economy being constantly set back they need to limit what people can do with the exploits until they fix them. Simple Fix..

Make all equipment EPIC (purple) items be Bind on Pick up. Those items will never be tradable. And when the exploits are fixed and the game goes live make all future drops tradable. This will prevent item farming for now and you will have to spend your AD on other stuff than epic equipment.

Thoughts and idea's?

I personally like seeing BoP and BoE. Bind on Pickup on some really rare and unique items at endgame do make them have a lot more value to the player since he/she worked for it. If everyone runs around with Godly Plate of the Whale then its not nearly as special.

TBH all dungeon drops should have been BoP from the start. World drop epics should be BoE. But they will be exceedingly rare. If you wanna wear the purples you gotta work for it.

Not really interested in working too hard while playing a game.

I think leaving them BoP will be more effective anyway. It will certainly cut down some of the Need rolls based on "need to sell". While it won't eliminate them, since some will still figure it's better they have the gold from vendoring than people that can actually use it having it. There's not much we can do about those, unless they also remove "Need" from gear someone can't equip.

I don't think there will be someone who is so wretched as to deny party mates an equipment upgrade just for a few silvers.

My vote is a big NO.

Sadly, this game uses the tired approach of BIS gear only dropping via dungeons. In other words, solo to 60, then group up or give up.

It makes up for this by having that gear NOT be BoP, giving us soloers a chance to get it. The fact that those items are BoE is what got me to play an MMO again. I had planned on never doing so as long as the archaic 'raid or die' philosophy ruled.

Or... they can fix the exploits, ban the exploiters, and for the people that actually work hard farming these epics in these dungeons for hours, they can be rewarded with the ad they deserve.

Also, make zone chat 10-30 second wait period per type. Take off the stupid report spam button if people get silenced for no reason, like me.

I'm sure the game will be fine eventually, it is still a month or less in OB, come on people. The economy won't be broken forever. I'm sure it will go back to normal if they ban the right people, and patch these exploits up.

The entire point of Open Beta is to test the games features including the game economy and itemization. It would provide no useful test data to make everything BoP during beta testing then switch it when Neverwinter is released.

Gear being BOE is a strategic economic decision on their part. The ability to buy the best stuff with currency is what motivates some players to buy Zen from PWE to exchange for AD. So you'll never see them make 'end-game' drops BOP. It's not about testing. It's not about fairness. It's always about PWE's income, and I don't have any objection to that.

You sir, are ignorant as heck if you think Open Beta that has no character wipes provides any useful testing over a live release. The game is basically live, PW states it is live and the lead designer at Cryptic stated in the last interview video he agrees that it is basically live when questioned about what players were saying. You know what the difference between Neverwinter Open Beta and Neverwinter Live? One has the words beta in it and the other has live. THERE IS NO CHARACTER WIPE THERE IS NO USEFUL TESTING. The game is very much live.

I disagree. Wretched people flock to MMO's, Chronomancer.

Here is how they SHOULD do it.

All dungeon purples are BoP. You can BUY a token from the ZEN shop for 200 ZEN that removes the BoP flag and makes it BoE and tradeable.

Works too! If i remember Runes of Magic has something like that where you can unbind your gear. If i remember correctly it cost something like $5 bucks.

Great idea! I like it. If you want to unbind something to trade to another character or pass to a friend you can. The ZEN cost can be based on quality.

    50 ZEN for Uncommon(green)
    100 ZEN for Rare(blue)
    200 ZEN for Very Rare(purple)
1000 ZEN for Legendary(orange, or whatever the name color is)

This can be a great way to pass along so to speak items that you really enjoyed to friends you play with or guildmates as well.

Greatsword of the Kings is 150 Ardent Coins and something I want to use on my Avenging Paladin, but lets say one of the Avenger classes uses a Greatsword? I'd gladly pay some ZEN to unbind instead of waiting another 150 days for more Ardent coins.

Its a easy way to make additional money and shut down some RMT and future exploiters as well.
