So given that Cryptic/PWE also make Star Trek Online which has just had an expac, I thought I'd check out that game to get a better perspective on the company.

Yesterday, having downloaded and patched, my newbie character was exploring the space station for the first time and I checked out the in-game mailbox. There were mails from the NEVERWINTER foundry about the publication of my foundry quest (they never got sent to the Neverwinter mailbox). Crikey, kind of a glaring error!

Nothing surprises me about PWE anymore.

Hehe I think I can top that. I joined a skirmish the other night and I could hear other people talking in game through my speakers! I don't even have teamspeak or any other sort of chat software on my PC!

Thats not a bug. Theres a voice chat feature ingame itself.

You can see speaker icons at party members portraits and you can see a microphone icon near your own portrait.

Just disable voice chat in game like any sane person does, the voices will go away.

You aware that you can send tells to people in STO? I think the chat channels are shared as well. I don't consider it a problem though as it lets people in the fleet on STO contact me if I'm in NWO. Your friends list for both games also trigger, regardless of which you are logged into.

Cryptic hosts all their games on the same 486.

My character has shown up using the games search as both devoted cleric and guardian fighter and have been invited to quest with others in those capacities however I am a control wizard so promptly kicked.

Better yet, Cryptic uses XMPP protocol for chat, and you can even use an external client to chat :) Although I used to do that, I'm not sure if that actually still works.
