Plan to add two builds with each class?

With the current setup you started with two Fighers and its safe to assume two Rangers are in the future(Two-Blade and Archer). Some classes do have more then two builds but does PWE/Cryptic want to strive to add an additional build for the current core classes of Neverwinter Online?

Example: Battle Cleric, War Wizard, Brawny Rogue.

Fighter Class
-Build #1: Great Weapon Fighter
>Paragon #1: Swordmaster
>Paragon #2: ???

-Build #2: Guardian Fighter
>Paragon #1: Iron Vanguard
>Paragon #2: ???

Rogue Class
-Build #1: Trickster Rogue
>Paragon #1: Master Infiltrator
>Paragon #2: ???

-Build #2: ???(Brawny Rogue)
>Paragon #1: ???
>Paragon #2: ???

Cleric Class
-Build #1: Devoted Cleric
>Paragon #1: Divine Oracle
>Paragon #2: ???

-Build #2: ???(Battle Cleric)
>Paragon #1: ???
>Paragon #2: ???

Wizard Class
-Build #1: Control Wizard
>Paragon #1: Spellstorm Mage
>Paragon #2: ???

-Build #2: ???(War Wizard)
>Paragon #1: ???
>Paragon #2: ???

    In theory yes.

They are reported to be working on a new class as we speak, hopefully to be added soon.

I am guessing archer ranger will be next. It would be a totally new class (not just a new build for an existing class) fill a new role (ranged DPS), and be able to use those nature resources that can currently only be accessed by someone with a nature kit.

Hopefully after that they will keep on with the introduction of the new classes and get some sort of paladin, warlock, and warlord into the game, and probably a barbarian and druid, too, even if they add no other classes beyond those.

I just hope that they don't take too long. I mean, I want them to get them right, but if my favorite class is warlord and I have to wait 2 years before any sort of warlord is in the game, even if not my preferred build, that may not sit well with me.

Yeah, I know... Beta. But it's real. The game is being played now. A person not playing becasue they can not play as a warlord is a person that is not going to be spending money in the Zen store.

So yeah... New builds/classes for sure. After that they need new paragon paths for each build. At least 2 per.

Dev/Designer said in recent interview that two classes being worked on and one pretty much done(obviously Archer and the Scourge Warlock) and new Paragon Paths coming but nothing has been said about a Second build(2nd cleric, rogue, wizard) to the current core classes.

Hummm. well IMHO they need to add more paths! I play a CW now, and a TR, CW being my favorite atm, but would love to see a fire and electrical path added for this class.....just my 2 cents

Just to add to this I would have no problem paying for this feature for $10.00 (Or whatever that is in Zen).

As long as it is account wide, I don't like Digital stuff that aint account wide!

I'm a little confused on the whole "build" thing. How do "build", "class", and "paragon path" all relate in Neverwinter and is it a change from 4th ed D&D? Is Guardian Fighter and Great Weapon Fighter considered two separate classes or are they supposed to be two different paragon paths of the Fighter class? Same with the Control Wizard. Is Wizard the base class, and they are calling it a Control Wizard because of the Spellstorm Mage paragon path they've given us?

Looking at a list of 4th edition D&D classes I see Fighter, Wizard, Cleric, Ranger, Warlord, etc. I guess I assumed that Fighter would then have a number of different Paragon paths. Neverwinter has divided each class into subclasses though and then those subclasses will have a division of paragon paths normally available to a whole class?

    I'm so confused! lol

    For instance, you have

    Fighter Class
    -Build #1: Great Weapon Fighter
    >Paragon #1: Swordmaster
    >Paragon #2: ???

    -Build #2: Guardian Fighter
    >Paragon #1: Iron Vanguard
    >Paragon #2: ???

    Rogue Class
    -Build #1: Trickster Rogue
    >Paragon #1: Master Infiltrator
    >Paragon #2: ???

    -Build #2: ???(Brawny Rogue)
    >Paragon #1: ???
    >paragon #2: ???

    Cleric Class
    -Build #1: Devoted Cleric
    >Paragon #1: Divine Oracle
    >Paragon #2: ???

    -Build #2: ???(Battle Cleric)
    >Paragon #1: ???
    >paragon #2: ???

    Wizard Class
    -Build #1: Control Wizard
    >Paragon #1: Spellstorm Mage
    >Paragon #2: ???

    -Build #2: ???(War Wizard)
    >Paragon #1: ???
    >Paragon #2: ???

Each class currently has one Paragon Path. Example Great Weapon Fighter has Swordmaster or Devoted Cleric has Divine Oracle. There are more Paragon paths coming, but no mention of more builds. Build would be the subclass/specialization under the generic class. Example two builds of Fighter(GWF, GF).

While we are at clarifications, do I understand correctly that the Paragon Feat Trees are independent of the Paragon Paths?

I.e. the Paragon Paths add Powers (skills, class features) but all Paths use the same Feat Trees?

In the 4th edition of D&D this is how you would create a character:

First you would choose your role: Defender, Striker, Controller, or Leader
Second you would choose your Power Source: Martial, Arcane, Divine, Primal, or Psionic
That usually told you what you which class you were plating: Fighter (martial defender), Ranger (martial striker), Rogue (martial striker), Warlord (martial leader), Swordmage (arcane defender), Warlock (arcane striker), Sorcerer (arcane striker), Wizard (arcane controller), Bard (arcane leader), Paladin (divine defender), Avenger (divine striker), Invoker (divine controller), Cleric (divine leader), Rune Priest (divine leader), Warden (primal defender), Barbarian (primal striker), Seeker (primal striker), Druid (primal controller), Shaman (primal leader), Battle mind (psionic defender), Monk (psionic striker), Psion (psionic controller), Ardent (psionic leader)

Player's handbook 3 created the option of hybriding 2 classes together (of course they suggested picking 2 classes with the same role).

Then you would choose from 2 to 6 builds within a class

10 levels later you would choose between 4 to 12 paragon

paths within that class (sometimes but not always limited to a build).

10 more levels later you would choose your epic destiny. It didn't matter what class you were for epic destinies so long as you met the requirements.

I have to say, this is one of the most calm rational replies to be found on this website. Minor complaint trickled politely into a hopeful post.

    Well done sir /salute

Awesome, thanks for the visual. That definitely clears up the questions in my mind. Although that makes me a little concerned when looking down the road in a year or whatever. If they're having a person pick Builds at character creation that'll mean eventually there will be a TON of builds to pick from the character creation screen.

There are currently around 20+ classes in 4th edition. If they have more than one build per class.... crikey...

Of course I realize they may never add all the classes (er.. builds) but still that's going to be a lot of options to choose from at creation!

Once Guardian Fighter's thread gets sorted out I could see them looking at Protecting Paladin. I think some of that has to deal with if they add a "tank" centered Paragon Path for GWF.

I've not played D&D pnp since 2nd edition so I'm not overly familiar with the 4th edtion list of classes. When I look at the list though there are quite a few really interesting sounding classes I'd love to see.

    From wikipedia:
    Player's Handbook Classes
Class - Power Source - Role
    Cleric - Divine - Leader
    Fighter - Martial - Defender
    Paladin - Divine - Defender
    Ranger - Martial - Striker
    Rogue - Martial - Striker
    Warlock - Arcane - Striker
    Warlord - Martial - Leader
    Wizard - Arcane - Controller

    Player's Handbook 2 Classes
Class - Power Source - Role
    Avenger - Divine - Striker
    Barbarian - Primal - Striker
    Bard - Arcane - Leader
    Druid - Primal - Controller
    Invoker - Divine - Controller
    Shaman - Primal - Leader
    Sorcerer - Arcane - Striker
    Warden - Primal - Defender

    Player's Handbook 3 Classes
Class - Power Source - Role
    Ardent - Psionic - Leader
    Battlemind - Psionic - Defender
    Monk - Psionic - Striker
    Psion - Psionic - Controller
    Runepriest - Divine - Leader
    Seeker - Primal - Controller

    Eberron Player's Guide Class
Class - Power Source - Role
    Artificer - Arcane - Leader

    Forgotten Realms Player's Guide Class
Class - Power Source - Role
    Swordmage - Arcane - Defender

    Dragon magazine Class
Class - Power Source - Role
    Assassin - Shadow - Striker

    Heroes of Shadow Class
Class - Power Source - Role
    Vampire - Shadow - Striker

The ones that intrigue me the most are the Swordmage, Artificer, all of the Player's Handbook 3 classes, Bard, Druid, and Avenger. Would love to see some of those sooner or later.
