So after sitting up till 6am and finally seeing the message "To clarify one thing I've seen around on Twitter, whatever we ultimately decide to do, a full character wipe will not happen." I though *Phew* i can safely go to get not being worried progress is lost..
...Woke up seeing : "we have made the extremely difficult decision to rollback.." *GUTTED*
Now, you might be wondering why i'm gutted about this.. I will tell you why. I'm an endgame player. I don't really like getting stuck doing nothing, so like most people i spent most of my time trading, upgrading gear, focusing heavily on professions etc. not to become bored (let's face it, doing epic dungeons over and over with 9 out of 10 groups failing get old.. real quick!). It's important to mix things up, spice it up a bit..
However this sunday morning (norwegian time, aka 7 hrs ahead of america) i had an incredible stroke of luck.. I was aware of my surroundings, so trust me when I say this; It was before the whole cat-explosion went down lol. The zone chat was "quiet" as normally, people were doing dungeons as always, the AH was up and running without lagg and negative AD items (also prices was normal).
I had spent about 2 hours scrounging what AD i could together to buy some keys for the oblivious lockboxes. i managed to get my claws on some cheap keys from ah (10 keys for 560k AD), and a very generous manual trade with some random dude. By some freak stroke of luck and resourcefulness, i had almost 20 keys at my disposal.. Now I'm usually a very resourceful bloke, but this was impressive even for me! So here it begins...
I didn't want to jinx myself and spend them all at once, but gradually opened them one by one with moderate time in between (yeah, im supersticious lol). Now I don't know what's normal when it comes to luck/rate at which you get good items out of those boxes, but trust me.. I was LUCKY..
I got SO many good items from them boxes, ranging from all sorts of valuable assets for Leadership professtion, to enchantments, the phoera, not to mention all the statues you turn in for extra AD.. I even got a few of those rare wards that people crave so much. I also aquired a few dragon eggs in the process. Now sitting there going from rags to riches in a matter of minutes, i decided to do what any wise person would do.. Get rich! lol
So i progressively posted my items on AH, announcing my posts on the /zone chat to get buyers interested etc. I spent so many hours near the AH and mailbox that morning, just watching the riches come in. Now this was about the same time as weird stuff started to happen. people were talking unusually fast on /zone, the game was starting to lag more and more as i worked my way through ridding myself of my newfound riches in the AH, and the AH itself started to lag more and more. I noticed several checks i did to find the right price for my items, stuff started to pop up more and more with a negative ammount of AD on them (giving some error message i cannot remember). Not thinking much about it, i kept to myself.. focusing on getting rid of the stuff i could so i could amass some decent pool of AD to perhaps upgrade some of my gear eventually. Then it happened... the cats..
Suddenly the whole game changed from being a normal quiet morning in an up-and-coming mmo, to a clusterfudge cat-fest. The /zone was freaking out BIGTIME, cats were everywhere, people were asking for gold (for some darn reason, gold was acually valuable at this time i thought xD), people were accusing eachother, talk about getting millions and billions of AD.. It was a horrible time to be a legit player. It brought out the worst in people! The game was bleeding badly, and I realized what was in the process of happening..
At that point i sort of knew what was about to happen.. the aftermath seemed to happen then and there, i just knew the game was going to have to shut down and get rolled back. I was in denial though, i could not believe this was going to happen.. not now! not when i finally had a stroke of luck!! why me!?!
Yes, i was selfish.. i thought only about myself and what i would most likely lose from this. i who have spent so many weeks playing, grinding, scrounging, salvaging what i could.. I did not want to think about the repercussions this would have for me. All those keys, all those strokes of luck... and all those lucky items i got. GONE!!!
And then the AH was shut down... my heart stopped for a second... i couldn't do anything for the next 30 minutes. i just stood there in the middle of the town plaza watching, reading all of the spam.. it was so weird. i felt like a lost chump in a movie, standing still while the whole world was rushing past me. I couldn't believe it.
time went by and eventually it all stopped with an abrupt error message. that was it. i sat there for hours and hours like tons of people, watching the forum post and the facebook page, reading update upon update.. waiting, hoping..
Unlike most people who did this, my timezone is like i said 7 hrs ahead of america so by the time i got the somewhat reassuring update "whatever we ultimately decide to do, a full character wipe will not happen" I thought.. "finally, i can go to bed.. there's hope!"
Then i woke up and got the message i did not want to read. the complete opposite of the prior. the one i was always expecting. it was happening. i sort of always knew it.
Now, if you bothered to read through all of this then you might be thinking "What a selfish *******, all he does is think about himself". And you're right! You're absolutely right.. I am selfish. This lucky streak of the lockboxes from hell had turned me. I realize this now, this is not me. But it felt so good! It felt so good finally getting some slack, finally getting a break! Finally it was my time to shine and get some luck.. And now it's most likely all gone. I'm sure i'm not the only legitimate player who get's screwed over by some punk. i'm sure there are alot of people who feel the same way, or who went through the same deal. i know for sure though, that this was more or less untouched by the event that followed. this was not a product of the glitch. and knowing that should make me feel proud and glad, but it doesn't! it only makes it worse..
I could have simply make a short post asking my question, but i felt like pouring out a bit. i'm not usually a dramaqueen or whatever, but now i know how that feels lol.. I guess what i'm asking is something alot of people are wondering right now, legitimate or nay.. Will there be a compensation for this of some kind? will my loss of the luck of the ages just drift by, leaving nothing but the memory behind? all those keys, all those items, all that luck.. gone forever? I will not ragequit for this, like i can imagine a few 100k players will because of this decision.. But it won't be the same, i know this already now.. i just know it.. even though this has to be one of the best mmo in development that i've been a part of. I just feel so gutted at this moment of time. so unbelieveably gutted.

I know i'm a greedy *******.. i feel like a bloody dragon on top of his hoard of riches right now, only the little hobbit came and stole my treasure lol.. that's how i feel. and i feel changed and stupid right now.
