There needs to be a trade channel separate from the zone chat that we can put on to another tab to free up zone chat.
This would allow players to see who is asking questions in Zone. Trade for trade channel. LFG for looking for group.
All 3 should be in separate channels.
Just did a check and there is a channel named "NW Trade"
Was not one for LFG so created "NW LFG"
Both are public (the one I set up definately is). The only issue is getting people to use them.
Anyway...Click the gear in the upper left of chat window
Then click custom channels
In the text bar at the top type NW LFG and click join (same for NW Trade)
All you need to do then is set up a new tab in your chat window, or however you want to deal with the extra channels.

Problem with user channels is Joe Schmuckatelli doesn't generally know about them. Then you always have that one guy who refuses to use them, and started in on how you're bringing him down or something like that. Official ones would probably get a lot more use.

Very true, unfortunately this is all we have to work with. And might I say "Schmuckatelli" nearly made me spit more coffee on my keyboard
The thing I've noticed about a trade channel is that a lot of people think this: "if I post in both the trade AND general chat channels, I'll sell/buy faster." Then they spam it. If there was a way to keep trade chat strictly in a "trade" channel, though, I would not mind.

Just like other mmorpgs, the zone channel for the city is used for trading. DEAL WITH IT.
On the plus side it's not overflowing with a bunch of moronic gorn puns.

Feel free to use the custom channels from my guide that I have stumbled across. However, there is no system default LFG or Trade channel in the game yet.
This may come in handy someday, but why call it "Trade" chat? Just call it "General" chat and the channel is accessible in all major city hubs! Except as of right now, there is only 1 major city hub: Protector's Enclave!
As time goes by, I'm sure Cryptic will add a new major city, and that's when a "General" chat channel that links PE and the new city will come in handy!

We need official channels. Then we can flag people who refuse to use the right channel and repeatedly bark in wrong channel as spamming. They come off our screens and if enough people do it, they are muted for a while.

Haha, are you tempting me to create a shard-wide or game-wide general/zone channel?
If they had a clue they would temporarily prevent linking items in Zone and make a proper trade channel where item trades are output by a system where players select item amounts and buy or sell at set intervals using a queue.
While the AH is down, we need a trade channel. Right now the whole economy is based on friggin cats. Wth is up with that?

the system needs a default LFG and trade channel. that way the users can filter out some of the garbage. as it is you can't read anything in chat because it flies by.
