Just wanted to make sure that I'm not crazy...
Ran a few dungeons today (one epic and one normal), won an item from each on a Need roll (yes, it was for my class) and both items are bound to character.
Can someone confirm that this is the new setting? See nothing about it in patches and afaik only started happening this weekend.

So now instead of making AD for Auction House, they make gold instead.

Wow, really showed them.
Nah, this should work to kill most ninja-looting and fix some minor problems (like making it possible to get items for other classes even if there's a member of that class on the team because they will often roll greed as well).
Who the hell needs 1 gold?
if this is true it is stupid system...so ppl whit gear dont need to play dungeons for what should i play dungeons if not for loot ?to help leechers to get epic gear?

One gold is still better than zero gold. This wouldn't change anything - especially when you consider that games with bind-on-acquire have as many complaints about ninja looters as this one.
In fact, this may make things slightly worse - if someone auctions an item, at least it probably goes to someone who can use it. Under this rule, items are just so much vendor vapor.

Um...you roll greed with everyone else. If someone actually needs all the items that were thrown out by the boss...well, you got unlucky.
I usually see 1/10 or 1/20 items that I can actually use with my build since it comes down to a single set from about 4 and then we have multiple classes...

No this is the system that's used in other major mmos to prevent greedy people like you from ruining other peoples dungeon runs
how do i ruin it if i roll need for items for my class?
If you're rolling need for an item you already have or don't need and someone else in the group could actually use it as an upgrade you're ruining it for that person
Sure you might lose out on being able to sell an item no one in your groups needs but this system is needed because of the rampant greed in dungeons at the moment

Why do you need items "for your class" that are not bound?
Need does not mean "Need to sell on AH for AD and buy other stuff", it means "Need for my build".

If this is true, it's HAMSTER. Half the items (up to this point for me at least) I see are "unidentified". So how would I know that it's not a duplicate of something I already have unless I win it in a need or greed roll. So if I "need" it as it's a class item, win it and it's a dupe, and now I can't sell it because it's bound...that's HAMSTER.

I think this only applied to Rare/Epic items. Although can't confirm.
Edit: also, people usually pass on uncommons they can't use, especially at higher levels when no one cares about uncommons. So even if you have to roll greed on them...not an issue.

Just so we're clear, what you're saying here is that you leeched your way into what gear you have running PvE dungeons? Need rolls aren't intended to be "need to sell it on the AH" rolls, and obviously, if this fix is in, never were. Otherwise, there would be no need to fix it, yes? Sorry that your get rich quick scheme is ruined, well, not really, but I was raised to be polite.

This is an interesting attempt at a fix, but misguided. Items that aren't for your class should simply not be eligible for a need roll, problem solved. Now all the ninjas will continue needing until they realize they can't sell the items any more, and then continue needing to make some gold or just to be trolls. Sure, it'll fix some of the problem, but seeing as this was a stealth change, it will cause issues for a while.
I'm thinking just limiting what you can need on would have been the better solution here.

That's a fine idea but what happens when a ring drops? Everyone will be able to roll need so really you're reducing the problem to items that everyone can use.

The vast majority of dungeon runs I have been have been on, are free of ninja looters. There has not been a patch note about the loot system. I have found that at times an item is gathered bound, but it is a rare event and I think that some items are just bugged to be bound on pick up.

This is why I wanted a confirmation. Happened twice to me with both Rare and Epic items in both Normal and Epic dungeons...
OK, so semi-confirmed. Ran a few more dungeons last night and all of them had Bind-on-acquire for rares/epics you get from Need rolls.
I'm not sure why this was ninja-patched in (since I couldn't see it in the patch notes) but seems like useful info to give your group-mates.
This is a bad attempt to fix a bad system. It doesn't work in WoW either. It's still prisoner's dilemma. If you don't care about other people, lowering the reward doesn't really change things.
Use a co-op loot system like gw2 or WoW's LFR loot.

And it will work about as well as it did in all those other "major mmos". Not at all.

Please review my campaign and I'll return the favor.
