As I played this wonderful game i've noticed something.
People are becoming bored!
This game have an spectacular action combat, amazing graphics based on D&D, a good system based on 4th edition and a foundry offering us the opportunity to create our own adventures.
But the game is too linear.
You create a character, play the introduction, play the plot and it's allways the same. You don't have alternate ways, alternate stories...
The game was created with the ability to choose your background, but nothing is connected to it. You can choose your god, nothing connected to it.
Maybe if you create an alternative introduction for each background chosen or class, or race, or god you can keep more players.
Ok, the game is raw for now, nothing that solid, it's an open beta... Well, this open beta is disappointing a lot of people, and it can end into a bad thing.
My wife, some friends and random people already told me they don't want to play anymore cause it's too linear and it have few choices. Maybe, if cryptic makes more content fast you can keep these players...
Note: Sorry for my bad english, english is not my native language.
It does not need any content. It needed to be released without raid exploits. the gear flooded the AH cheaply and people got geared way to easy.
I just thought i try Castle Never for the first time. First 2 bosses can be just single pulled and the Beholder even gets stuck in a corridor where you can just range attack him. That's meant to be end game content.
Everyone on beholder bugs the Spider Temple last boss. Doing her normally? Nearly no group would down her without proper gear.
The game was released to quickly and therefore it will quickly also. But as far as i can tell from the stories about the previous Cryptic games. I don't think they really care.
No, it needs the current content completed/fixed. Dungeon boss mechanics need a complete rework.
If the trolls that spawn during Hrimnir would just go stand at the entrance to Frozen Heart, no one would ever complete that place. The sheer number of mobs that spawn during fights is just stupid.
None of the bosses themselves are at all dangerous or impressive. Even the dragons are complete morons.
Use the <removed exploit lead-in> to interact with the auction vendor.
The only people who are bored are the insatiable "sport-players" whose main goal is to reach max level as fast as humanly possible, who cannot never be satisfied.
It's competing with other games of the same genre.
Why World of warcraft is played by more than 8.000.000 people? Content. Vast content. It began with a good variety of content.
Guild Wars 2? New game, same thing, variety of content.
On those games you can make a lot of things from the begining to the end of the game.
As i said, neverwinter is too linear. In the market of MMORPGs it's a bad thing. Foundry is an awesome tool, but if they think content made by players with the limits they created into the foundry tool will keep the game alive, then it's a mistake.
I'm a lover of D&D games, i've played the RPG, neverwinter nights, baldur's gate, was DM in ad&d, d&d 3.0, d&d 3.5, d&d 4.0.
Forgotten realms is a vast world, even limited to neverwinter it can create so many things....
If they improve foundry tool to make more complex quests and campaigns, with bosses, with mechanics, then it'll be better, but still, we need oficial low lvl content and end game content later to make the game better.
With what players can do, with the limit we have, the game can't evolve.
You can create limited content with no complex fights, no boss fights, no interesting uses of some tactics of monsters.
You use pre created monsters...
Until a certain lvl you can't play foundry quests.
When you're trying to make an interesting / complex foundry quest / campaign you don't have the tools necessary to make those.
I'm sorry, i see the foundry as an awesome tool, but it's not that good yet.
The game needs more low lvl content, more choices, more arcs of choices.
Foundry is a limited experience, and needs great DMs to create moderate content because of it's limits.

Sorry, but the fun about creating foundry quests is for others playing, and not yourself since you know everything about it.
Okay your points *may* be valid individually. But it, frankly speaking, appears you are trying to justify your position with anything you can think up. For example: sure the Foundry has some limitations, but *have you actually tried*? As for who can play it: anyone at level 5 - shortly after new character tutorial CAN play them. Just because it's "not that good, yet" is no reason to give-up giving it a go. You are starting to sound like an elitist which will put you squarely into the category of people I mention in my first comment in this thread.
In short: you cannot be satisfied. You may as well abandon this thread altogether. Or better yet: chalk-it-up to being "done" with neverwinter and go move on to something else.
Wait, let me guess: nothing else is "that good enough, yet". Am I correct?

So you're telling me that you're farming end game content and have full T2 fully enchanted on at least one character ? If not idk what content are you talking about .
I've done a lot of foundry quests, even with it's limitations the DMs made good quests.
Anyone can play and make those quests. I'm making one, but i don't have enough time to finish since i like complex quests and i have to work and study.
As i said, i'm extremely satisfied with the combat, the foundry and the visuals (i loved they didn't make pretty *** girls, but yet normal characters). Yet, a lot of people i know is leaving the game cause of it's basic content, that i agree with then, is too linear.
You make 4 characters, you personalize your character, but you'll need to make the SAME things you've done before, unless you want to play only foundry quests.
I'm sorry, but if they want to make the game with only player content i see this much more as laziness than intelligence.
So you're telling me that you're farming end game content and have full T2 fully enchanted on at least one character ? If not idk what content are you talking about .
That means 'have paid several hundred dollars for coalescent wards' in effect.
It's true the game does need more content, however, what there is needs to be changed/fixed first.
As an example, Spider Temple is a reasonably boring boss fight when you do it properly... bugging it... ugh. I've stopped doing dungeons altogether recently, because I just don't enjoy them. The skill needed to legitimately beat that many adds is a bit more than the average player seems to have. Most players either bug the bosses or run 2 clerics. Both are horrendously dull ways to play the game- but realistically, you can't do an 8.3k GS dungeon without cheesing/having 11k GS/getting very lucky and getting players who can actually play (a rarity seeing as everyone cheeses- they lack the ability/will to play properly).
As someone who won't play for gear if I'm not having fun, I'd love to see 2 things:
1) Completely remaking most of the T2 bosses... and a fair few T1. Make them fun and challenging in creative ways.
2) More content.
Seeing as I don't think they're gonna remake what they have, I'm hanging out for 2.
Having full BiS enchanted etc isn't the point at which you need more content- it's the point where you will go utterly insane if there isn't any. That doesn't mean you won't be absolutely sick of it after your 2nd Castle Never run (ugh).
TL;DR I shouldn't have to kill every boss in the game 700 times to want new content. I will want it when I have experienced the current content and am now struggling to stay interested. Farming content that's completely mindnumbingly familiar isn't fun.
The lack of alternative leveling paths is an issue if they are expecting people to level multiple characters.
Exactly what i mean.
Not only this.
90% people will try every class in the game, maybe every race too.
If you need to play the SAME thing every time it becomes extremely boring.
We have 5 classes for now (lacking for an ranged dps, and i wanted a ranger or warlock, and another leader, probably warlord would be nice). If you want to test every one of these classes to their final potential (i'm not talking about gear, but at least powers and tactics) you'll need to play the basic content 5 times. Even with foundry the actual content is too linear, you don't have options to alternate paths, or at least an alternative background begining based on your choices of city and way of life, or gods.
Maybe it's me but it seems like the OP is jumping the guns here just a bit. Yeah, call it a "Soft Launch" or whatever, are you positive what we're seeing now is all they're going to put into the game? They've got races and classes yet to be unlocked, why would you think otherwise about in-game content? Or are you assuming since you've made level 60 and are bored already that this is it for the game?
Sincerely, if you're bored with the game already and it's only been in Open Beta status for about a month, maybe it's best if you looked for another game.

Well yes it's going to be dull if you replay the official content through several different characters so soon after the game opened. It's true that this game doesn't offer alternate paths for more replay value. A game that does do that is Guild Wars 2, so that might be a better fit for you if you have not already played it. The foundry here is really the jewel of Neverwinter, and you can devour so much content and not run out. I'm not an altoholic and I'm here for content. I'm not bored and I sincerely doubt that I'm going to be bored at any point unless I just burn out, but that will take ages as this game just opened.

Hence: OP is moot.
If you're bored now then theres no hope for you.
Character is what a man is in the dark
If you want to play another character it's extremely boring to make the same content with no variety all over again.
The foundry is awesome as i said.
The problem is the oficial content.
Angrysprite
I like to enjoy the oficial content of every game, i enjoyed it, 3 times, with no rush... I just played it all.
Others
I agree with the mechanic of dungeons and bosses, they are too flat, too simple. They need to be fixed / redesigned.
Man, Champions players must be laughing themselves sick.

I realize it's a common geek failing to mistake 'things I like' with absolute truth, so I thought I'd help you out there.
