7 hours is not good enough. Not by a long shot.

Dearest Beta Testers and Bravest Adventures,

In the dark hours of this Sunday morning an in-game bug was discovered and taken advantage of by a very small group of villainous Nashers intent on exploiting Neverwinter's Open Beta Gateway and Auction House systems for unearned Astral Diamonds.
No not really, all that happened is that people started to talk about it openly, so much so that it became a farce to pretend that it was a secret anymore. People had access to this exploit for weeks they were keeping it as quite as they could for obvious reasons.

Thanks in no small part to the efforts of our continually amazing Beta community, we were able to quickly identify the exploit and the perpetrators. Once identified, we took immediate action, calling in the entire development and publishing teams to lock down the Neverwinter OBT as we sought out a solution.
Severn hours to identify rampant exploitation, people giving away cats on every corner is not amazing, its worrying slow. You also did not take immediate action. The servers were up for hours after everyone in the game knew all hell was breaking lose.

Rest assured, the issue has been corrected and we have taken appropriate action against all players who took advantage of the bug, including but not limited to enforcing permanent bans.
This is a very transparent attempt to placate the masses. Obviously the "last to know crowd" that stupidly jumped on the exploit band wagon are now dealt with however the real exploiters are laughing so hard they have AD coming out of their noses. Bare minimum we need to see a wave of bans reaching back weeks into the logs. All you have done is chop off the tip of the iceberg and spouted "mission complete!"

Sadly, the damage to the economy was done.

Rather than let the malicious efforts of a few unsavory players linger and continually impact the game's economy and balance as we progress through these later stages of Open Beta, we have made the extremely difficult decision to rollback Neverwinter to a time shortly before the abuse and exploitation began.
Let me correct that " We have made the extremely easy decision to rollback Neverwinter to a time shorty before the abuse became public knowledge. We know the smart exploiters won't be touched by this but at least we got the stupid ones heh!

As a token of our appreciation for you, the community, and all that you've done for the game throughout these days of Beta, we will be sending a thank-you gift to players and opening ourselves up on the forums and various other channels to answer any and all questions we can.
Adding insult to injury the long time exploiters that are swimming in AD with get a nice little appreciation gift along with the rest of us.

The only way to correct this is to start swinging the permanent ban hammer and doing it transparently. We the players need to see that the guys who were abusing this for weeks are caught and dealt with we need to know how many and how much AD is removed from the game. This is the only way to restore a little confidence that the economy is not utterly irreversibly broken.

PS. We banned them you can trust us does NOT cut it! Character names, servers and total AD or it didn't happen.

If they ever chose to punish the innocent along with the guilty, Cryptic would crash and burn. No-one would trust them ever again.

Actually it did happen I know two who have been perma banned along with the mules they were using, cryptic has a policy of not naming and shaming that's why you aren't going to see the list of shame here.

And I think it was enough time, it addressed the bulk of the shenanigans without negativity impacting, those who didn't cheat, also keep in mind Cryptic isn't done the bans are ongoing, they are just going to take awhile because they are having to track down the main character and the alts they have sent their ill-gotten gains to. As for the ones who made money two weeks ago...not much they can do about them, yes they can and probably will ban their accounts, but the money they made is already in their pockets.
Always Looking for mature laidback players/rpers for Dungeon Delves!

I discovered this exploit myself prior to all this nonsense. I tested it and made a ticket fot tech support detailing how it's done and what game functions it impacts, including the Zen market. What did I get for this? My account was banned. I am going to post on Redditt and any other forum I can find as I think it's unexcusable I was banned when I reported this exploit in good faith and nothing was done. The staff had my ticket and never responded. Now, as a paying member of the community, I was banned and lost the money I've legitimately spent on this title. I don't want a refund, but I do want my account unlocked.
