So, I decided I would reroll my original first character - a cleric - in an attempt to better focus it and now that I have had some experience in the game.
Looking around in the forums, it seems clerics... do everything. Well it would be nice to have a cleric that could do everything, but I'm genuinely at a loss if I should try for an everything-build? Or even how to achieve it or which builds would be better?
I have already deduced, after 40 levels, that I'm going to be tanking in dungeons, like it or not. So I've gone for a human this time.
DPS is not so important to me, but from what I've seen, I won't have a huge problem in 'doing enough damage' - the amount of support a cleric provides no matter how it is used - even as a tank - justifies whatever damage it might not to enough. I feel kind of bad for these great weapon fighters, I've never seen one do much for damage... alternatively, I also feel bad for these tank-fighters. Trying to tank with a cleric on the field? They do best, it seems, to just try to occupy the biggest and baddest mobs.
So, I thought I would come to the forum for help. It seems to me I can do a good amount of support buffing/debuffing/healing no matter what build I pick, so I figure I'd like to cover the big problem I had with my previous cleric. Being squish. Can tank be achieved mostly through gear AND cover all the support/heal/damage/debuff/buff points?
What are some good builds it would seem, that offer general usefulness to the group and allow for some tankabillity? I tried leveling as a crit-based but it was just way too much aggro when I started doing it it seemed. My stats were generally power>crit>recovery>defense while leveling. I'm thinking I can just juggle stats around with a few items to adjust to playstyles. Oh, and that human seems an obvious great pick for the extra points and D rating.
Wisdom/Charis seem ideal to alternate points in as I add.
I'd like to do a bit of healing and party buffing/debuffing, mixed with AOE. Seems all natural cleric stuff. Any good ideas here folks?
Is there a 'feat calculator' somewhere? It would be nice to use.
So far what I have come up with... I know I would like to have
max sunburst
max astral seal
max searing light
max hallowed ground

a clerics job next to the wizard in t2 dungeon is to push enemies from cliffs for fast dungeon runs and face roll wins, thats also why no one gives a **** for other classes in t2 runs, except rogues and youll get kicked immediatly especially as gwf
I personally use Unspecified's tank/heal build with a few insignificant differences, plus he explains at great lengths a lot of the various mechanics pertaining to the cleric, aswell as go over the feats you should and shouldn't pick in general, so it's very informative.
In short, yes, we do (have to) cover a lot of roles as a cleric, but I find that very exciting and very different from the healing roles in many other MMO's where we just sit at the back looking at healthbars. It might seem daunting at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's not really that complicated, and having a good group along with you makes it even easier, without becoming trivial and boring.

Are you looking for an end game build, or are you seeking some sort of balance while leveling?

I also would suggest checking out mewbrey's guide, http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?188622-My-Cleric-Build, which I've been following pretty close and have had good success in the healing department.
