PVP: Entangling Force Worth it?

Hey all,

Just curious about everyone's thoughts on using Entangling Force in PVP. It seems either 1) short 2) broken or 3) easy to break.

Rogues can roll out of it with their dodge, and other classes seem to break from it fairly easily. It probably gives me 1.5 sec of CC if I land it right.

I just hit level 40, and I'm thinking Repel may be a better choice for 1) getting to potions faster 2) controlling points, and 3) knocking people off high places.

My current set up: Tab, RoE. Q, Shield. E, CoI or CS. R, EF or Repel

Thoughts?

With all the Rogues roaming around in PvP, your better off with repel. Repel will also help you some what against GWF, these guys will be your bane (if they spec right) once you hit 60.

"Entangling"" is only good 1 vs 1 or if you are in a focus group with a second or third, other than that take Repel because, nine times out of ten, you will be the first target people try to attack" Other than the Cleric.".
I may not be considered by most the BEST PVP Warlock on the server but, I am the most HATED amongst them.

Oh, I've read that thread at least twice! Still playing with it. When the servers get back up I'll play a few matches and see what works best with my play style.

Entangling becomes staple at 60 where every second of CC is the difference between life and death.

I agree with using Repel or even ice rays in place of entangling in PvP. With all this control resistance/immunity in PvP, Entangling doesn't really justify its longer cast time.

Wish the servers were back up so I could play around with this a bit. I'm thinking Repel will be my choice until I get some higher up Encounter abilities. It buys a lot more time and is basically an instant cast. When I get to 60 it may be a different story.

The other use I've found for Repel is that you can knock someone into a corner. It has two effects:

    1. The camera angle really sucks, which affects game play and...
    2. Gives more a nice psychological effect of being cornered and helpless.

Yes I recommend you don't use entangling force on the off chance that I end up being vs you in pvp sometime.

GWF get a 10% mitigated reduction on all CC from everyone, I can tell you this with the .10 seconds entangling gives you in order to get 3-4 stacks of chills on a mob as opposed to Repel giving you a chance to get 5-6 stacks off on a target (using frozen ray and the likes.), as far as PvP goes, this is a hands down for me. I can't tell you the number of times, I have used entangling and the Rogue or GWF has walked through it, leaving me to check to make sure I had even pushed it.

Getting chill effects on your opponent and keeping them from hitting you in melee is the focus of a CW. People over look a lot of stuff in frost over the "arcane" damage but when they learn you can keep a whole PvP team frozen almost 85% (if they are zerging) making you a even bigger threat you will see a lot of people speccing out of Arcane.

Back on topic, Repel over entangling man, although you can use them both to keep the bees from stinging you (That's what I call all of the Rogues now.).

Please show us a video proving the claim that Chill is superior Arcane. Until then, damage, and specifically burst damage IS king. This isn't to say that arcane CWs dont have CCs. It is plenty enough. Every time I see a chill focused CW in PvP it confirms what I say. They are more of an annoyance rather than a real threat.

I'm not that well geared yet, but when I play I use ray + chill + ice rays + steal time. For various reasons, but in my oppinion it's highly superior to choking. It lasts longer, slows everyone (you can jump down straight on the point casting it in mid air effectively landing with an awesome stun :D) and combines FREAKING AWESOME with ice spikes (instakill on everyone you hit with steal time) :).

    Best regards,
