Cryptic, Please Please Please Consider This

It seems Cryptic is sticking to Twitter as their primary way of communication throughout this, but this is a bit lengthy to post there, so I'm hoping they read this, here goes nothing! I originally thought of this when the GF fighter exploit happened, and this seems to reinforce it.

I believe Cryptic needs to bring down the servers and do a wipe. I also think they need to take a week or two, really as much time as they need, to use the metrics that they've gained from this open beta to make alot of fixes. Root out as many bugs as you can, brush up class balance, make some final decisions on if the top tier gear should be bop, etc. Once this is done launch the game and peg it as its true launch, if you feel so inclined toss a bonus to the people that beta tested the game these past few weeks. Have everyone's Zen reset to what they paid for. If you also wanted to give the founders their headstart again before fully opening the gates I'd also think that would be good.

It just seems as time goes on, the need for a wipe is going up not down. I've really enjoyed this game from what I've played, but this has been a very rough "open beta", and I think a reset is the only way for this game to hit its maximum potential in the long run.

Edit: Meant to put this in my original post, but it slipped my mind. If they could have it ready in time for the relaunch it would be a great time to introduce a new class and or race. People would be less upset about starting over if they had a couple more options at creation, but I wouldn't want to see them rush this side of it if it was likely to introduce more bugs.

Your need for a wipe does not constitute everyone else agreeing that there should be a wipe

I do not want to start over. I've spent real money on this game. If they wipe, will I get it all back? I doubt it but I'm going to ask for every penny back and I will not play it again.

Cheaters benefit more from the wipe than anyone else. The best solution is to take down the servers as long as they need. Even if this means dropping the servers down for a few days. They can easily ban the cheaters, roll back those that dealt with them, and even roll back the servers. They can take a big long lengthy process to fix as much damage as possible. Before this boom most people were against a wipe even with the previous exploits. If this day didn't happen then most people would still be against the wipe.

The ones who benefit the most from the wipe are the cheaters. They're already going to get banned but that's no punishment for them. Why? Oh no! Their account got banned so they lose everything on it! Oh, wait. Everyone else got their stuff wiped too. No problem.. new account and.. they're now on the same page as everyone else. Most cheaters want to be on top. That's why they cheat. To maintain an advantage. This gives them a second shot of being on top as everyone else will be equal.

Bans do not permanently stop someone from making accounts. Many people know how to circumvent Hardware, IP, and even other types of bans. It does prevent them from using that character and if they sniff out their alts/main characters they have a significant amount to lose. If they're the ones punished they suffer the most. While everyone still has their items, their gear, and their legitimately earned currency they're back to level 1 in rags.

Apparent to the twitter post, roughly 10 minutes ago, they guaranteed there will be no wipe.

Now they have not said anything about a Roll Back, which IMO needs to be done, but they guaranteed no wipe

This post was more of the best way (imo) to handle the situation if they decide to do a wipe. The reasons for a wipe have already been discussed often enough that I didn't feel like beating a dead horse, but gave some examples in my post for people that aren't fully up to date on the situation.

The only people a wipe would benefit, would be the people who started with zero, refused to work for more than zero and then complained about the people who did work for it. (not talking about exploiters, they can go to hell)

Agree. Cheaters benefit more than the normal player because if there would not be a wipe, they will be banned and lose everything.
If there is a wipe, cheaters would have no punishment.

your logic is flawed...do you seriously think the exploiters didnt transfer most if not all of the illegal AD gains they got to other accts? and as for the "If there is a wipe, cheaters would have no punishment." youre wrong b/c all of the accts that had the AD transferred would be gone too not just the acct that did the cheating

i didnt find out about this exploit until they posted about it on facebook but in all honesty even without the AD/AH exploit im still an advocate for a full wipe just to clean out the economy...

but as ive read somewhere they said a full wipe is out of the picture so back to my blissfully ignorant existence in NW lol
