How much server down considered TOO much?

Let me start by saying that I had very good faith in this game, there are lots of good features good ideas pooling together into this game. In fact this is probably the first Free to Play MMO, I support immediately on the first week of launch.

My main problem is two words SERVER DOWN patching, maintenance, random offline, they are all mean to one thing, the game is UNPLAYABLE! no one can even log in to even enjoy the lovely bugs and glitches.

Ok, I understand every online game need its ONE weekly maintenance, and maybe patch ONCE A MONTH. But we all know that is not the case here, the servers down multiple times every week, just random time too. Ok, maybe a patch? then when server is back, there is nothing, no patch not even a reason why, and when there is really a patch, the patch note is disappointing, so little changes, no new feature, for a new game? this is very sad. That is also funny, because I really sure the game sometime take FOREVER to load or even crash thanks to all those convenient "in-game patching" which I don't even know what for.

This is not even the developers' fault, this IS the SERVER management team here, I mean what do you people being doing with players money from those ridiculous OVERPRICE! CS items. Buying new PS3? XBOX? build new pool?

I can ignore all those bugs cheats exploits glitches in queue, this game is still new, I understand. But server down constantly is like telling all players "don't play this game, go play something else, we don't want you here" and at worst, on WEEKEND? really? seriously? on the day most people are home? this has nothing to do with the design of the game, this is clearly just BAD MANAGEMENT.

FIX YOUR STUPID SERVER, stop TURN YOUR SERVER OFF! give people a chance to play the game, and fix your site forum while you are at it, it's been very slow.

I start to regret supporting this game, sad really

One whether you think the game is live or open beta, it's status is raw, it needs many fixes, fixes require downtime.

Two todays downtime is an emergency addressing a massive exploit

Three it's better than the alternative of them not patching at this point.

The site is slow because it's tied to the game server. If the game server goes down, the site takes a hit in performance.

Your response to the server being down is ridiculous, really. They're trying to fix an exploit that had the potential of HAMSTER up the game economy for years. It has nothing to do with server stability right now and everything to do with shoddy code.

But I guess reading the front page of the forum is too much work for you. You just hit that "Make New Thread" button to show us your impotent rage.

I actually prefer 2 hour downtimes 2 or 3 times per week over a full day or more of downtime once a month. The server is brought down for an emergency fix during beta...deal with it lol. Take a shower.

izolda they shut down the servers because the exploit that needs to be fixes is so severe that it will ruin the game completely in the long run if not resolved now. People already have full endgame gear sets that should take months to acquire because of a one-hit-kill exploit. That along with an AH exploit that people have been obtaining BILLIONS of AD off of.
IMHO they should do a full wipe and start over, but most people (like yourself) won't understand why and would likely rage-quit.

"Enough downtime" is considered until the problem is fixed. Anything after that is "too much."

I do agree that the server maintenance is anoying, mainly because they dont have an EU server and thus putting it down during peak hours in europe. A nuby mistake which they hopefully realise soon.

One tip though. When u have to login before ur at ur character go to options and check 'disable on-demand patching. U will now download the full game after that. Why they didnt gave u this option while installing the game is beyond me, but it gets rit of all these patching screens while loading a dungeon and zones.

This is actually one of the better MMO launches I've seen. But then, I haven't played an MMO in quite a few years and hail from a time when every MMO launch was a complete disaster.

"game economy for years"??? that's very funny. The last I remember this game NOT EVEN out for ONE YEAR. When did Perfect World become enomonist that could predict the future. From currently situation, not sure this game even has a future.

seriously with the extent of the damage that has likely been done by this exploit I wouldn't expect them to bring them up before they know exactly whats going on and how they are going to fix it. Personally I would even prefer it!!! Better to leave it offline and get it fixed BEFORE they do anything else and then bring it up when they have the situation under control. Its part of MMORPG life... get used to it and get over it or move on.

you didn't really sit there and make an audible noise such as, "Hahah!" or "hm!" or "Heh", so that means you should stop abusing the lol term, moron.

You sir are on the side of a very very idiotic implementation of technology. If you honestly think having the website and game shards on the same machine is nothing but mentally HAMSTER...literally, only a team of people with down-syndrome would do that, then you need to put a trash bag over your head and seal it with a jump rope around your neck. If this is true, the hacking will never stop.

Now that I'm done clearing that up, I want to explain that this is truly inevitable in an extremely thorough, complex and vast game. As a software developer, I know that MMOs are the pinnacle of MASSIVE in terms of computer programs. There are hundreds of millions of coding language 'statements' (real sentences of code that a coder must type by hand). Once you get a working program with that much cross-referencing and capability, it is NOT POSSIBLE TO FORSEE EXPLOITS. PERIOD!!!! Izolda, although I agree with you, you need to not have the luxury of suffocating and passing out, but should have something much more excruciatingly painful, that lasts at least thirty days, occur to you for being so impatient and ignorant. You're acting like a civilian COD fan trying to explain any aspect of the military to an Army Ranger. You would just get slapped in your face for even opening your mouth. If you don't know how a process works, then you need to keep your comments to yourself. Yeah, I hear you, bro. They should have never had the servers on the same machine! Yes, your thread was the first to come up on Google, so thank you for making a new one. But, that is no excuse. Think about people like me. Tomorrow I will go back to a full work week. This is my only time to play besides maybe a half hour after work if I'm lucky!!! I want to play as much as possible tonight but can't because of this issue. Still, shut your f-ing mouth! You don't know how this works, so don't pretend that you know what's acceptable and what's not unless you can, right f-ing now, tell me which of the successful MMO's you coded yourself. Which you will not, because if you did, you would know the process and never EVER would have made this thread. Go back to you bedroom in your parent's house and cry into your pillow..... God!!!

You should work on your reading comprehension little buddy. At no point did I defend nor say I approved of how they set up their server hierarchy.

But you were too busy huffing and puffing your way through your blustery blustery insults to slow down and think, right?

Bravo. I am an old-school programmer from way back when programs where written in Basic and Machine Language. Nothing as complex as programs written today. Even back then, it would take me days just to write a simple banking program for home use, e.g. I would very much like to play the game as much as possible, but I prefer 'several hours' of downtime to fix a damaging exploit that could ruin the game than to just let it ride.
And to that end, I hope they find (if they haven't already) the person responsible for this mess and punish him somehow. Don't ban him, after all, he/she did discover an exploit. But some form of punishment never-the-less. And that's all I have to say about that.

If this beta had been out for 3 months, or longer, I could see how this sort of down time would be a deterrent.

It's a week old. ONE WEEK.

You can ***** abd moan now about downtime - or you can play the game for 6 momnths and then all of a sudden lose all the zen you just purchased to an exploiter masquerading as a legitimate player b/c they *didn't* fix the exploit way back when b/c
48 Hours in a row would be too much.

I say better now than after a strong fan base is at level 99 legitimately....
