22 Y/o. Playing online games since -01 here. Every kind, especially RPG. MMOs I started in 02 or so with Runescape, then AdventureQuest, Travian, Darkthrone, MapleStory and other text-based browser MMOs such as Reign of Blood and Eternal Wars among some other ones that I don't remember by name.
For the longest in-game time out of MMORPG's, I've played Runescape, World of Warcraft and Sword of The New World (Granado Espada).
In fact, most of my ideals for a perfect MMORPG come from these three games.
- WoW and Runescape for the Story, minigames and quests
- Runescape and WoW for PVP.
- WoW and Sword of the New World for the Combat
- WoW and SotNW for the economy
- WoW and SotNW for banning users and preventing exploits from happening.
- SotNW for having a good cash shop, the best I've seen so far. Pretty much only cosmetics and even with the good things you could buy, you would not be making profit any faster than others. Merchanting or just even leveling was a good way of making money.
- WoW for having achievements. They kinda show others how much you've been through.
(Of course all these games have their downsides, I will give insight on that later probably, but let's continue- )
So here is my opinion on the game so far.
Combat and movement: 8/10
Awesome and refreshing.. I like the idea of encounters, at-wills and dailies. However, I believe we should be able to pick 4 encounters and either 3 dailies or 3 at-wills at same time. There is in my opinion one small downside and that would be the damage scaling. I think it should be bigger, but then again I haven't reached level 60 quite yet. I hate that you have to run ALL the way to start of the map area to leave it and how much the scrolls to town cost. I hate how the threat currently works and its a huge flaw in this game. Tanks need to tank, dps need to dps and healers have to heal.. but it all messes up and everyone gets to tank boss.
Cash Shop, Currency & Economy: 4/10
For a game with a lot of potential, I think the current Zen buy prices/exchange prices are way too high. For a normal player who will be leveling carefully to 60 because of overleveling, they are insane. As many players have to skip dailies in order to prevent overleveling, they don't gain daily 24k AD and are not able to respec their leveling spec at 60, but only then are able to start some kind of farming in order to make profit.
Profit will be increasingly hard to make every day and I knew the economy would be really messed up in the next 2 coming weeks 2 days ago. People just get to the max level so fast.
The game has a lot of pay to win elements in it and for that, I hate it. I hate that someone who has hundreds to blow on a game just to be able to dominate in it much earlier than others, can just buy the cash shop currency and do that.
I understand that the developers want some kind of profit, but I believe they will not make any with the current prices on respecs and other things. People will just simply disagree to buy those advantages as they find them absurd...or so I think.
Party, loot and dungeon settings: 4/10
Terrible, a leader can kick anyone. There are a lot of abusers and people need on everything in dungeons, making loot distribution unfair. It also sucks that you cannot leave a dungeon and instead have to WALK back to the entrance if your party leaves you mid-way. Also, not being able to queue to skirmishes or dungeons that you may have missed because of overleveling or doing things that the game tells you to do daily is a bad thing.
User-generated content and Foundry: 9/10
For how easily and early you can create maps, the current map making tool gives you pretty many options already.
It's pretty nice, but it should have more options available, such as flying mode and extra objects.
Story: -
I don't know but I don't really care about it, but from what little I've read, It's been pretty good.
Professions: 7
I don't like how they require so much time to max out, instead of doing something to lessen that time required to do it faster. I also find a lot of the professions useless, especially at later levels.
Communication, chat and UI: 8/10
I find the UI good. Being able to use voice chat is a very nice plus. I just really find it annoying how much auto"correct" that chat window has. Sometimes you cant even form a sentence in populated zones.
Community: 7/10
So far I've met a few mature players and have happily spent time playing with them. I've met a lot more people who don't act their age, behave negatively and just generally want to make you feel bad (for their own good usually, ninja looting).
Character Customization: 9/10
It's very good, but I think it could be a little bit more diverse.
There are currently a lot of bugs. Sometimes I can't use any skills and have to restart, sometimes I can't talk in chat and have to restart, etc.
Customer Support: 4/10
They don't answer - or if they do, they tell you the answer will be in mail and it's not there.
Overall: 7.5 / 10
I really like the game itself, but the respec prices and current market prices are pretty insane. The professions take long to max out and you'll be level 60 for a long before professions start being much of use to you. Overleveling is a huge problem for completionists who search every zone and do every quest (and try to do dailies), even if skipping as many monsters as possible. The experience you gain should be toned down or you will have the danger of missing skirmishes for achievements or missing daily AD. The economy will probably be in a disaster soon and it will be very hard to make money because people have exploited and farmed for a long time at level 60 now. The casual and core gamers will suffer from this after a while and notice how hard it'll be to make money soon, because everyone is farming and selling the same items, always for a lower price.
The PVP should be more balanced and damage toned a little bit down, but allow people to have 4 encounters and possibly 3 dailies available to use at once.
I really like the foundry and the map/quest editor, but flying mode should be implemented because its very time consuming and annoying to keep falling through objects in 3d editing mode.
Not sure why i wrote all this. I just kept touchtyping whatever came in mind.
