It's not like they can personally investigate the few minorities that commited the exploit from release. The public only got notion of it like a few days ago. It's perfectly acceptable to undo the damage done by the public, and then work on punishing the few who found out about the bug & exploited it from the get-go.

TBH a dual method is required to fix the situation. Since info about the exploit got public only like 24h ago - roll back everything for that time. Then find all the suspicious transanctions that happened before that 24 and take drastic measures against those people and all accounts connected to them (by cookies and other means of identifying the machine/s they played from - not IP addresses and they already have a mechanism for that implemented when the game was installed). The amount of cases before the last 24h should be countable and fixable. This won't fix the problem 100% but it never works like this. Still in my humble opinion it's a suited compromise not hurting the whole community that much and restoring hope for the economy and the game's future.
