The final version of my quest has been published now, give it a try and let me know what you think!
The Sunken Castle NW-DEO4EA5XG
Hey all,
After many backbreaking hours I've finally published my first (of many) quests. I'd be honoured if some of you would give it a try and give me some feedback.
The quest is designed for those that like a challenge, mostly hack n slash but there are story elements (if you care to read them) and some hidden humour here and there. There are some small puzzles too.
There are three difficulties to choose from (Normal, Advanced and Expert), I've only tested "normal" for monster challenge so far as I don't have easy access to a full group of well equiped people for "Expert", but I have tested the quest steps for all difficulties and they're working just fine.
As promised, I played your map and took down some notes. When I give reviews please remember everyone has personal tastes and this is just my opinion.
Near the start you talk to that character in the Inn who knows where a lost treasure is. Perfect setting for some story development. Quickly, this person points the way to a dungeon. This is where I got real worried because it starts by saying investigate the abandoned camp and I am thinking "what abandoned camp? I never heard anything about no camp". The camp had a magic ticket for the dungeon and the dungeon ticket taker just happened to be some random dude standing 50 feet away. How convenient... I almost gave up there because I am so sick of hand holding quests where things don't logically make sense, people just chain together "things" and the player stares at a sparkly line until there's either something to kill or something to click.
But luckily I decided to keep going because when I got into the dungeon the quest changed to "explore the dungeon" and there was multiple ways to go and no sparkly line telling me to "go find the sacred key of Dave to free the princess". So I ran around and killed things and got lost for a bit, I tried jumping over a wall at one point thinking maybe there was something behind it. I was generally having fun in this world you created.
Unfortunately I couldn't finish and not really your fault. First I got stuck on these spike traps, they are awful because they are so buggy. http://imgur.com/7LXLkdn Luckily I had an invincibility daily to get out. Oh and bravo on setting chest traps, you did get me.

But I killed 2 of the tough ones but they won in the end. But I respawned inside of a rock... http://imgur.com/6Tlrpzt
I subscribed to your map because I do want to keep checking back on updates, overall it looks promising.
Cheers for your comments hercul33t, they're much appreciated!
Originally this was to be three quests (one for each difficulty) under one campaign, but a bug prevented me from duplicating the original, so I had to modify the earlier stages of the map to incorporate a way to change the difficulty (quite a headache I can tell you!). I'll add in extra markers so that you don't automatically know where to go.
The respawn issue is a new one, but I understand why it's happening and will redesign that area to better handle it.
I'm glad you liked the treasure chests, I'll switch the trap type perhaps... there are numerous other bits of flavour text hidden here and there.
What did you think of difficulty selector system? I tried to make it seem as natural as was possible for such an artificial thing. :P

I don't know how well the difficulty selector worked since I set it to normal and still got wrecked. lol
Like I said, I have subscribed and will try again in a couple days to see what's different. I've probably put about 80 hours into my map and it's still not done. It's hard to imagine when I could ever be satisfied. I'm sure you'll have many revisions on yours too
