What is a skill node? Where do you find it? and how do you activate it?
(Thanks a lot! from a total newbie at the game.... )

skill nodes are scattered around, including the regular areas outside Protectors enclave.
they appear with little sparklies over them. The nature one, for example, looks like a clump of green mushrooms.
Each character gets one skill (like theivery for rogues) and can use it freely. The other skills require 'skill kits' which drop in game,or are available for purchase from vendors for copper/silver, or from the AD bazaar.
Click on the skill node to attempt to open it, kits give a 75% chance of success.
The professions event has nothing to do with your professions, which are Leadership and crafting. It's got to do with your class ability and kits as was pointed out; religion, arcane, nature, dungeoneering, thieving.

It only has to do with professions as far as farming resources (and possibly unconfirmed assets) goes. Feel free to join us in the NWO-Professions channel if you have more questions or want to discuss professions in-game.
