Are they really going to try and add large scale raiding to Neverwinter? I just don't see how a 10/20/X player party would work well in a game like this, the collision alone might prove to be rather annoying in some situations, especially for melee characters if enough of them try to pile onto the back/side of a boss.
I am just curious if these rumors have any proof behind them or are just people randomly making stuff up. I heard a lot of streamers claim "raids are coming!", but I don't really believe they will happen because this just not seem like the type of game that could properly support raiding with a large group.
Don't get me wrong, I think it is technically possible even with collision issues and such, I just don't think it would be any good. If Cryptic can pull it off then good for them, but something tells me this will either not happen or be executed so poorly that it will push players away.
Boss mechanics would also need to be completely re-worked from the ground-up. Could you imagine the current mechanics of add waves in a 20 player environment? Yeah, that would be less than stellar. You would see 15 or more people running around in circles like idiots while 5 to 2 people actually handle/enjoy the boss. Then you basically end up with a 5 man group and their army of add handlers.
Omg could you imagine the adds if they ever made a raid? I would assume they would make sure to have a ledge and a place for the CW to punt them off, would make sense.

I think large raids would hurt the game more than help it if Cryptic can't get their act together and design legitimate raid bosses and mechanics. Also, if they add them before balancing ALL of the classes for their intended role(s) in PvE, then it would just be one giant cluster.
A) Pretty sure they fixed or are fixing the blue circle from stacking I doubt they would kill anything either.
At the very least I think the most HAMSTER group makeup we would see if 10 CW's, 5 clerics, 5 rogues. CW's would control the immense amount of adds (hence why so many), the rogues would kill the boss and the clerics would just keep 5 circles up in the room for each respective group. Then you basically have a 5 group of rogues and their army of add controllers.
Yeah, I am afraid that will be how raids are handled and thus many will probably not enjoy them.
Personally, I gotta say if raids don't come soon I'm going to move on.
I enjoyed the game to 60 and for a while afterwards, but there just isn't a proper endgame here.
Cheesing every endgame boss because you can't possibly kill that amount of adds legitimately is boring- I can't enjoy 2 cleric groups (dull) and I can't enjoy boss fights with little if any variation.
First time Yshiggol, Mad Dragon etc were fun but it's hard to find a group that's capable of killing them... Probably because most people have cheesed so many boss fights they don't know how to actually fight properly.
I think 10-20 man (no more) raids in this could work, and be immensely fun if the mechanics were well thought out and creative. But they need to come very soon...
Comments
1 Boss
42 Adds every 30s
69 Large red circles every 60s
85 Large red cones every 60s
1 Chest with some loots
This is about as creative as Cryptic will be.
Raid Group make up:
10 Dps
10 Clerics
Chest will drop loots for Guardian Fighters everytime. GG
