Companions only get 75% XP?

I apologize if this was addressed somewhere else, but I looked and didn't see anything.

- I am testing this on a L60 character; I don't know if that affects how much XP the companion gets. I will try again later with a lower level character.

- The XP earned was from Leadership tasks, so perhaps Leadership awards XP differently to companions than quests and/or kills. I will also test this later.

But as of this morning, I collected 3718 XP from my Leadership tasks, and my direwolf only got 2788, which is right around 75%. This is the second time I've tested these numbers, and the first time I also ended up with a 25% reduction.

It may ALSO be that I'm getting slightly increased XP from the Leadership tasks due to using green/uncommon equipment (+16% quality), and perhaps that extra XP doesn't translate over for companions.

I still have a lot more testing to do, but I am wondering if others are seeing the same thing. Does your companion only get 75% of the XP you get? Under what conditions are you earning the XP?

    Not sure Sapph, but that does make sense. My new wizard is level 23? And my Dire Wolf is only level 16 or so.

    I just confirmed that pets get ZERO xp if you claim Leadership profession rewards from the gateway. My direwolf was summoned, I exited the game, claimed Leadership rewards worth 900xp on the gateway, then logged back in. My direwolf didn't even get 675xp (75%), he got none.

    Good to know! Here I thought I could level up my companions via Leadership profession XP, but not through the gateway!

    Yeah, companions have to be actively summoned in order to share exp gains with your character.

    The direwolf /was/ summoned though. It was summoned when I logged out, and it was still there when I logged back in. However, I am guessing that the servers don't count your pet as summoned if you're not actively logged in, which is one of the things I wanted to test.

    I really hope this fix this... other wise it could deter people from using the gateway.... and we all know how they want us to use the gateway....

    Bad enough I hear Astral Diamond rewards dont go to your character when collected with the gateway.
    I've yet to double check, but I think this is true.
    It says rough diamonds, yet when I got back from work after doing at least 8 runs of Protect Caravan, I had 0 rough diamonds in my inventory.

    not 100% sure, but I believe when you log in it will refine all the rough astrals that character has. At least, I hope so otherwise a lot of dust... Also, the auto-refine is a once a day thing or once every x hours.

    I'm guessing a pet doesn't 'exist' while you're logged out, since it's not present in the game world. It probably can't track this properly when a pet doesn't 'exist', thus the pet doesn't get the XP bonus. This is just a theory anyway.

    It's good to know the results though.

    I saw something in the dev digest about the system automatically refining your AD after a certain number of hours, or once per day, as well. I believe I have some leadership tasks complete, so I can check this in just a moment.

    Edit to confirm: Rough Astral Diamonds were received when claimed from the gateway.

    I can also confirm that some auto-refining happens of your rough AD, since I am terrible about remembering to refine it, but I don't have much to refine.
