Instead of making people spend money to make them powerful, why not release a lot of skins, cosmetics, pets, features(like auto-loot pet) on Zen Shop. MMORPG are meant to be Challenging... because of the exploit.... I've notice a lot of Gold Spammer appearing... they are even spamming on my mailbox... P2W + Gold Spammer will kill this game...
Path of Exile, LoL or Dota have a high playerbase even though it is free because the game is challenging and fun. The PVP is great without those AFK. Actually you can even create a LoL/Dota style game for Neverwinter PVP which will attract more players.
Those people who like to spend money to make their character powerful are only the losers/cheaters(10%-20%) but the 80%-90% left are actually your real fan... this people will invest if your cosmetics, pets, mounts, bags, extra slots... are more affordable... they will play the game as it should be... they like challenge... they are the long term customer.
Let the players enjoy the game as it should be. You just need to focus on releasing new stuff players actually wanted on an MMO(Skin, Mounts, Pets, Effects on Weapons like Flaming Sword)... right now I badly wanted the Jester Skin but it seems you need to spend like 20,000 Zen to get the complete set
... too expensive.

This who pay 2 win/not pay to win argument is pointless and invalid. Spending RL money to accelerate your progress is perfectly fine. Its not like they are saying hey if you spend real money we will make your character 10 levels higher than the level cap, give you gear that no one else can get and give you god mode.
Its a choice. You can spend a few bucks of real life money or grind for a few hours the choice is yours. Either way a person who spends real money has no more than a person who doesn't it just takes longer for the person who doesn't to get it. Either way you both end up with the same **** in the long run.
Geez, people still don't know why certain games are P2W...
Your theory would be acceptable IF the ratio time:money was balanced, but when to earn 5$ worth ingame you have to put an enormous amount of time ingame then IT IS P2W. For example...if you can get 5$ in an hour or two playing the game, that's ok and somewhat balanced! But, if to get 5$ you need a week or more playing 6+ hours a day then that's P2W.
When 5$ puts you ahead in several days of playing the game, that's not a "sightly" advantage because explain to me how can it be fair to pay 100$ and be months ahead of everyone who didn't spend as much. At that point you are not paying to catch up with everyone else, you are paying to leave everyone behind you for a good while.
I'm sure in time, Cryptic will add more to the Zen Store, but I hope we won't have to wait too long! While it's true that some people only care about character stats and gear, many others (probably more than those who only care about stats) actually care more about the looks of their character!
Take any MMORPG or online social game, and the best selling items in those games are the vanity items! People change moods all the time, sometimes they wanna look a certain way, but then get tired of looking the same, so they buy a new outfit and wear that instead. During holidays they wanna look more festive so they buy holiday outfits, then either switch back to their old outfits or... buys a new one! It's like real life clothing! Most of us don't like wearing the same clothes all the time and we want new stuff!
Upgrading stats can only go so far. Once you get good gear, very little people care about spending more money or time just to get better gear to be 1% to 2% stronger! But vanity items? We always wanna change if there's something new to buy!
This is an open beta. Start treating it like one.
and... P2W where? you say P2W in this game is... then you go OFF topic talking about in game currency and the convenience of having more AD (which, fyi, can be obtained without paying what so ever; hope you learned something new).
You are just full of it and jealous of people who have disposable income for colors/bags/etc. There is no real stuff to make your char more powerful in a meaningful way. The items from the bars vendor are worse than any T1 dungeon drops, there are no unfair pvp items and the best companions only provide the tiniest advantage in pve. Go get a job instead of whining about people who can afford to spend their hard-earned cash on the game and therefore keep it free for everyone.
Amen to that!
What world are u living in , you seem to be some entitled baby, if you dont have 70 hours to put in an MMORPG then why are you playing?
WHat fun is the game giving you if you already bought everything, what is the point, currently looking at the zen store, the effort and time to gain is not equal to that of what you can purchase, therefore the game is pay to win.
i'de also like to ask why you htink its OK for a large percentage to lose out in a FREE TO PLAY game because of those few who are willing to dump money into a game just to be better than other people?
Really your reasoning is flawed, your sense of entitlement makes me believe you are under the age of 14 or atleast have the intelligence of a child.
Basically you would have the masses lose out because you can buy something instantly better than you can obtain based on the time it takes to get the equivalent.
Pay 2 WIn is guaranteed to 100% fail as a game, its been done over and over, please if you will name some other MMO,s that have succeeded via a P2W model.
I personally cvould literally buy everything from the zen store right now? do i think paying money for a game in beta is a good idea? no! why? it encourages bad business practice.
Life isn't a fair. If you want fair, go to the county one where there they have corn dogs and pony rides. This is entertainment and a business. The company can charge what they want and it doesn't have to be fair and balanced. If you don't like it, move on.
Someone spending 450$ right away will have 2 greater Enchantments ( Armor-chest/ weapon ) and an epic mount that runs 60% faster than your free one. This person who paid 450$ right away will facestomp in a Bg...PvP, every single time. So if you plan on playing Pvp when you are 60 have 450$ ready or ....in your case farm for 3-4 years....yes YEARS.
For people like me, total freaks that play 8 hrs a day on average it will still take months to obtains these vast amounts of AD needed to have an even chance of competing with wallet-warriors.
Ps: I paid. I'm not butthurt over people "pwning" me in PvP. I stopped playing the game when i noticed the huge advantage i bought.
What he really says is: I suck at pvp but refuse to accept it. I will now look for stupid excuses to make up for my own shortcomings.
Listen buddy, the Greycloak weapon starts sucking in the late tens. The Delzoun weapon is only as good as the normal unicorn seals weapon and you can get enchantments from running dungeons during Delves hour which is better than the free one. Spend a weekend farming and you will have plenty of gear for your main and your alts. 2 Million AD is nothing, I made 600k AD in a single sale yesterday with a mediocre item just by knowing the market.
TL,DR You are bad at the game and have no clue about it's mechanics. You are the most butthurt person on this forum, don't even try to state otherwise when your whole post is one giant river of tears.
This is as about a flawed argument as I can point out but I won't go into semantics.
If you could make an actual $5 every "hour or two" by playing a video game, the market would be flooded with worthless titles and individuals living on food stamps in the parent's basements forever.
The reason this is not a P2W model is that you can simply play the game as intended like any other mmo and achieve the highest pinnacle in the game without spending a dime, literally. There are a few cosmetics that you cannot get without subscribing to certain packs but they will not help you "win" the game.
I get really bored with everyone claiming they have pegged this game as a P2W when it clearly isn't. Can you gain an advantage by buying certain items/resources with real money? of course. But luckily it cheapens their gaming experience, if only by a little bit, where you get to experience the game as intended (even if not by Cryptic).
Be happy about that and move on with your life.
How does any of the stuff that happened affect your gameplay in any way ? All I read here is "I too want nice things, but am not prepared to spend money for it or put effort into dungeonruns".
Don't worry I was expecting the bandwagon of fanboys like you. If you didn't notice, I was talking about the P2W term, not how P2W affects this game. P2W doesn't have to ruin this game when exploits already did.
Blah Blah Blah, another fanboy who can't even read. Tell me where I said NW is P2W (even tho it is, but that's not what I said on the post to reply such bs).
It's funny to read all the HAMSTER claiming "Hey, you can get everything for free! Just play for a year and seven months to catch up someone who spends 100$ but that's just fine".
Also, I didn't say I haven't spent money on the game or that I don't spend money on F2P games. But the truth is, I didn't spend a dime on this one because since the OB it has been full of exploits so it never got the chance to make me spend money. Either way, I play more P2P games than F2P.
And btw, it's not that hard to make 5$ in a game every couple of hours, that doesn't mean you get to check out that money nor it means 5$ every few hours is even a decent salary.
