Now since all the exploits the economy as it stands is pretty much fu... You get the idea.
Instead of doing a charecter wipe which would probably send many people packing anyway, why not merge the 3 current shards and make a new SEPERATE one with a fresh economy?
But all your progress will be lost and you don't want to start again?
Make it so current charecters can transfer to this new server for a period of time, with a cap of 10m AD and also carrying their bank & inventory across.
I know there's much to consider but this would probably keep a lot of people still interested in playing, let the exploiters have fun with their epeens & wealth on a separate shard.
Common sense is hard to come by around here it seems..

The 3 shards will be merging when they are ready for their super server. Only 1 server though.

is this your first PWE game? they always have these mini servers / zones and once the population dying out they merge it.

I'm saying one completely new shard not of the 3 merged, leaving 2 servers (merged server & new server with restrictions on what can be carried across in order to keep a stable economy.)

AFAIK, they aren't wiping for the merge - that's why you can't have two characters with the same name on your account. Not sure how they're handling guilds or if guild names are checked cross-shard.

You don't know what action the devs will take against those that have abused the exploits

Wiping and merging are two completely different things. Generally wipes still leaves at minimum the characters still registered. Also, I would assume that guild names have to be unique too.

I like how exploiters pretty much shout 'I earned my 200 million AD and twenty level 60s in a day' on the forums.

    Grats btw.

There is only one server. The three shards are virtual servers that can be worked on individually even though they are all on the one server. They are set up so they can be merged or added to, whatever will be needed at the time, so guild names should be unique across the shards.

Each server is run on 100s of shards...
They are all super servers lol.
But yes the goal was always to merge into 1 massive super server after the rush.
However as of last Dev track post; the ETA was completely dropped.
Aka its on the side burner...UFN
Obviously far more people playing then they were ever prepared for.

I would be okay with this honestly. Sure i'll have to remake my Control Wizard but hes due for a Respec at some point anyway!

What I implied was all charecters wanting a new economy get transferred across to this new server with a restriction of what can be carried across, so really there isn't a major loss of charecter progression.

But wouldn't that mean players who have already have a **** ton of these rare drops will just make alts give them bags and have them bring it over for them? It would cause the economical problem that we are trying to avoid again, not to such a large degree as it is now but still a problem.

That's where limitations come in, one charecter per account or charecters created between x amount of time eligible. That's a rough idea.

Or they can just ditch the whole idea of transferring characters. It's not like you can transfer characters between shards now; you have to make a whole new character if you want to play on a different shard.

This doesn't seem like a good idea. What you are doing is going against the very foundation that they wanted from the very beginning, that every character was on the same server. They only have separate servers right now to deal with the rush and while they work on server optimization. They don't want to create a new server only for special people who want to destroy all their gear before they go across. Also, Character names are not unique.

It wouldn't be long before some of the no lifers find a way to ruin the economy on a fresh server too.

But the key thing is that they don't have to follow the "no wipe/rollback" promise on a new shard, assuming it's properly communicated of course.
