Quest: Bringing Truth to Words
Short Code: NW-DDE386E52
Bringing Truth to Words is the first installment of many stories to come. I have been creating a story board for a few years about the Descendants. I have a long story to tell so I hope these quests are entertaining and informative.
NOTE: The first few quests will most likely contain more dialogue and lore then combat (please do not lower your review because your a hack n slash maniac).Quest Description
Tales of a new race in Faerun emerge, a race unlike any other, a race with the potential of destruction, a race defined only by words. These words have been receiving notice by many leaders thus gaining popularity amongst the townspeople. Townspeople emotions are uneasy; not knowing what is to come. The time has arrived, you have decided to set out and bring truth to these words of no proof. You remember a childhood friend, Nettle, and his obsession over these tales and decide visiting Tabitha's Library, Nettle's mother, will be the first stop.
Quest InformationDifficulty: Soloable, can be challenging

Make Tabitha roam around the book shelves. Would be a nice touch instead of her just standing there doing nothing.
I had a weird bug where I talked to Tabitha then it ended the conversation then I had to talk to her again to get it going for some reason.
Move the key to be hidden in the bookshelves somewhere instead of RIGHT next to the door.
If you are going to have a 'lets go' then the npc should go with you. Not be there when you get there.
Village has WAY too many high plants. If you lived there would you have those big plants grow that high? Better placement on bushes/trees in the small village would be nice.
I never lag in this game but that fog on the bridge caused some issues.
Mob paths need some work. Pathing is bad in this game so having them roam to one point makes it too easy for a player to move out of the way and then pick them off. As a lvl 18 TR with a cleric companion I was never in any danger.
Wait: Talk to a horse and get warped to a new are? That just makes no sense. Especially to a dungeon.
Having the exit door there is a bad place. Just move it further in.
Again, talk to the horse to move to a new map. Use a door please. Sure it may sound right to get on a horse to travel to a new area but if you do that make sure the quest text says 'The horse will take you back to X'
Overall:
- The quest was good. Had a story and a plot and worked out rather well. Needs a lot more attention to detail with changing from one area to the next explaining the horse. IE: Malto will take you to the dungeon, Malto will take you back home or whatever. There was far too much talk to Xnpc then talk to Xnpc to make the time worth it. Could be balanced out a bit.
Difficulty: As a 18TR with a Cleric companion this was a very easy quest. I was never in any danger of dying at all.
Ending: You have the beginning of a good level/quest going on but it does need some tweaking. I only say that as there are some aspects that are not required for the quest and just too many npc action requirements. Why is there a bunch of NPC’s around that send the player into a super easy battle w/o helping. Maybe change it to where it is more difficult and they had failed? Making it up to the player to finish what they had failed to do?
Lastly: Thanks for the quest I did like some parts of it and the xp from it. You have my honest review and you can use it or not. Up to you.
-most plants in the village I did not place. It is part of that premade map.
-the horse is an aspect of the mystical race. Everyone uses doors at the end. If there was a door in the back at the boss why not just go in the back... I will have to go look but I thought the dialogue states Malto will take you to the mountains and then again at the end it says travel with Malto back to the village.
-I will definitely change the key part. Good idea.
-tabitha did follow. Pathing is horrible and she got stuck on random objects so I flipped how it worked.
-changing the difficulty is a good idea. I've thought about it but the mobs do scale with level so I was kinda waiting for a higher lvl to give me an honest review. Rogues are OP
Thanks for the review. I will make changes over the next few days.
Edit: I remember what is was. I changed Tabitha to appear in the office because she was having trouble pathing through the doorway.

A few notes I took during the run:
Unnecessary side table intereaction with no text. - Sounds like originally you had the key there, and simply left that as an interactable.
Bookshelf is named Bookshelf 08, which appears in the interact text.
Over use of names in dialog. People do not repeatedly address someone by name in a casual setting, especially when paniced.
Arrow trap in cave, pressure plate is so low a TR can not disarm from all angles it states "out of line of sight".
Encounter near Misrok, one orc spawns JUST inside a wall, while able to fight him it stops him from pathing.
Placement of the General is problematic. I "stumbled" upon him and found myself done with a bit of the chamber left unexplored. You may want to gate this in that he only comes out once his men are defeated or some other way so that the rest of the content can be enjoyed.
General Orc fight, the broken barrels near there can be used as an exploit to prevent the general from fighting back best to move that item or remove it entirely than run the risk of a TOS issue.
1) The infestation was awkward. I don't know if glitch, but markers were showing up where no mobs were. Additionally, I encountered about 4/8 in my first go, which was fun, but don't think intended. I really struggled to find the last 2 mobs which were by the bridge. I scoured everything else before finally heading back to town and finding them there.
2) Several traps in the cave were "object not visible," such that I could see but not disarm them. Again, not sure if intended. This applies mostly to your arrow traps.
3) All quest items stayed in my bag until the end. I'd ask that you have them be removed from inventory the moment they are no longer needed. I was worried I would not have enough room for loot with 7 items hanging out in my bag that I no longer needed (but was afraid to drop in case they were required at the end).
Overall, good job. I found the reading tedious at parts (and some, like the last interaction with the council member need revision as you cannot see all of the response due to limitations with the text box), but it was a story you are clearly working hard on and I applaud your efforts! Thanks for the post.
