Log to Character selection!?!?

Seems a simple task really...

Why do I have to completely log out and then log back in to change toons?

Am I missing something? I can't figure out a way to log to the character selection screen.

Yup. Definitely agree, but would rather them spend time on more important stuff atm.

Time? This should have been coded in from the beginning...

I doubt logging to a character selection screen is cutting edge stuff like you suggest.

Can someone explain how this would "tax" valuable developmental resources?

It seems like a no-brainer to me.

I hope it gets fixed so we get the option to go directly to the character selection. (Yes "fixed", not "changed")

    STO has this feature.

CO has this feature, but it's locked as a developer command...for some reason (although it does work).

    NW...doesn't have it. Why?

I agree that this is extremely annoying. I don't know my password because I use a password manager to store it. Therefore, every time I want to switch characters, I have to go copy and paste my password into the game as well. It's an unnecessary waste of time.

Ouch.. I have a method I developed for creating strong, unique passwords.

Using a PW manager must indeed add an extra layer of agony when changing toons. I hope they plan to address it...

Yeah would be nice. Also, not sure anyone else gets this, but when I get to the log in screen, 9 times out of 10 my email address has been replaced by a string of random characters, so I need to retype that in as well.

Actually you don't. That string of numbers is an identifier as far as I have found that is unique to your login. Just use it and type the pw you will get in.

I recall in another game that this was a limitation of the way the character data was loaded. When Log To Character Select was added (about 5 or 6 years into its life) it was a HUGE deal.

I get that too - always when I crash, and quite often when I deliberately log out. It's not random though, it's the same string of characters every time (I wrote it down so I could check). Not sure where the game gets them from, but it's annoying having to retype the email as well as the password!

[edit] If it is indeed unique to my account, I'll try logging in with that and see if it works. :)

To the person who thinks having to type in the password again is not a big deal - maybe not, but imagine having to do it over and over as you work your way down your list of characters to do the praying and professions before finally quitting for the night... I am quite happy to only have two characters right now!

Quitting back to the character selection screen is a reasonable and logical step that should have been implemented from the beginning.

Ah, didn't know that. I'll try that next time. Thanks!

When you have/want to switch characters frequently because their Invocation time is up, or to refresh your crafting projects? And you've followed standard security advice and made a password that's not "bob"?

Yeah, it can get pretty annoying.

Especially when, as people have mentioned, STO (by the same people) and many other MMOs will let you just pop out to character select.

This feature is enabled internally and will be available in a later update (not overnight hotfix patches).

If you type at like 2wpm then maybe it would be annoying. I have a fairly long password and it's not a bother at all.

Edit: Holy **** a Dev post about this stupid issue but nothing about recent exploits ROFL.

Good to hear, is there any chance we can get some info on all features which will be addressed in this later update? :)

Nope! Not at this time, sorry. There will be notifications well ahead of time unlike our quick overnight updates.

Only thing next would be navigating with arrow keys and being able to use enter.
