With tab you "mark" and enemy, so it has reduced resistances and you build up threat on him.

There is no Guard blue skill that magically happens then :)

My tip, for tanking 1 big guy; Mark him up, hold block, use left mouse button around 5 times, ignore block and just use block with the heavy hitting attacks (red circles etc). When you lose aggro start over.

I guess, well tool tip says you get the additional At Will skills and I was never seeing them appear. ... looks to me other than Mark the Tab skill is borked.

it is, but its funtioning like it should. The different at will skills its talking about is that while you are blocking they get replaced with 2 different skills.

the new skills you get are to be used when blocking.
They allow you to attack while blocking (holding shift)
you will see that the skills change when you hold/release shift

Your question seems a little confused, so I'll hit a few different points:

Guard isn't a mode, it's momentary. You have to hold the key down to keep your shield up. While you do, damage taken is subtracted from your Guard meter instead of your hitpoints. Your shield can block ANYTHING as long as there's enough points in your guard meter. Yes, this includes dragon fire.

"Mark" has nothing to do with Guard. Mark inflicts your target with a mild damage resistance debuff and doubles the threat you generate on that target if you hit them while they are Marked.

Your At Will powers get replaced while you are holding up your shield, and only then. Your basic Cleave attack is replaced by a stab over the top of your shield, and your Bash attack is replaced by a slightly weaker bash. Both of these can be done while the shield is up i.e. while taking no damage.

This is better explained than my explanation, thanks :)

The other powers are when you are blocking. Thats the shift key not the tab key

Not exactly true, but very close. At wills used while guarding don't remove your mark. If you notice, when you use your at-wills while not guarding, your mark goes poof rather quickly.

It also mentions this at the bottom of the mark tooltip.

He didn't say anything about at wills removing the mark. Neither do the marks
"go poof" when you use at wills.

The marks disappear if you get hit while not blocking. Or after some pretty long time.

Either way, he said that mark had nothing to do with guard. Not entirely true. Guard directly effects how long mark lasts.

It was my mistake on the tooltip, the relationship is reversed from what I thought it was. Soon as my guard is broken I always use at-wills anyways so it always happened at the same time for me.
