This is a boss guide to Ethraniev Marrowslake, the last boss in Gray Wolf Den. I go over the mechanics of this boss encounter and some tips to defeating her. At the time of this guide the names of her abilities are unknown, but I will update this description with them once they are learned.

This was on normal.
Could have used this some 10 levels ago. Too late now though
i havent been able to beat a single dungeon since 35
is this normal or do i just suck lol
watching this makes this boss look easy, but when i did it, our healer just got 3 shot
The game is cakewalk before then, but at about 35 and up you actually have to try. Healers need to stop standing in things and if everyone else does also. Then the dungeons are easy.
1.) The shadow wolves are the only unique-ish mob in this fight. They take roughly 1500 damage to kill. They hit for roughly 4k. Their frequency of spawning seems to drop off around 50%.
2.) The trash mobs that spawn during this fight are the same trash you fought in the rest of the dungeon. This means ignore the leapers, the fighters, kill the archers (just because the range damage can hit at the wrong moment). They DO NOT do increased damage. Shadow wolves are priority.
3.) Bring a control wizard.
4.) Her abilities are a leaping ability, some regular attacks (some knock down iirc), a cone attack that smacks ya with a hand those in front of her, and her biggest spam of the fight, which summons a hand up from the ground around each player (or decoy). These hands WILL stack damage so if you have 3 people all in one spot and none of 'em move they will all go down.
5.) Far as I know, add spawns do not stack ('cept possibly shadow wolves).
6.) A certain class can solo this fight. It's, in fact, much easier when they solo it. Requires a specific build to do it though.
I went in the Den for my first time tonight and couldn't down the boss. Some people where having problems moving out of the circles and having the same problem as I was.
It's been the same for me yamface9, I haven't been able to complete a dungeon past the dragon yet!!
IMO If you make the dungeons pug(able) then make it so a pug can pass it. I am all for harder dungeons, but leveling up dungeons shouldn't be this hard.
And don't even call me a bad player..... But the group I was in had some :P
EDIT: After watching the video, the group I was in didn't really know their classes that well. I wasn't getting heals, the DPS was nothing like in the video, people where dying about 30 secs after the fight started.... so ya. It was the PUG I was in.
I wish my guild would start playing this game so we could roll thru this content! :P
But as for me i won't be touching dungeons now or until I get in a decent guild.
1.
I disagree completely. By making dungeons easy until cap you simply shift the problem of bad players getting carried from the mid-30s to end game. If you struggle with your class or particular mechanics, the onus is on you to improve not for the devs to nerf everything into the ground. It's better to find out early that you aren't as great as you think you are. If you don't want to make an effort, that's your problem.
If anything, the problem isn't the difficulty with the dungeons it's:
a) that the dungeons go from rollface to challenging with little to no forewarning;
b) it's always the end-boss that causes the grief; and
c) there's no convenient way to replace people that inevitably leave when they can't derp their way through a fight. THERE NEEDS TO BE A WAY TO BRING A REPLACEMENT INTO A DUNGEON WITHOUT RUNNING ALL THE WAY OUT OF IT. Camp fires should be points where you can teleport in new party members.
2. The shadow wolves only spawn if Marrowslake strikes something with her sword. From what I can tell, a GF blocking a strike will still spawn the wolves. The attack that will, most likely, cause wolves to spawn is her pounce. You literally have a second to move out of that circle before she leaps to it, knocks down anything there and takes a swing. It's also harder to dodge once the wolfmen spawn as their leap has the same splat.
3. If anyone in your group lags more than about 300 ms or has an old computer, forget it. They'll get hit all the time by the pounce, the hands and the adds. Lots of wolves mean a dead healer unless your control wizards are really good.
4. The further away you are from the boss, the longer it takes for the pounce to get to you. After the pounce is when she'll drive her sword into the ground and the hand attack will appear beneath everyone. If you struggle dodging attacks, just move around whilst waiting for the pounce and the hands. Attack after that for a bit. Rinse repeat. It'll take a bit longer but you won't die in the first 30 seconds of the fight.
5. Put your companions away on this fight. It appears that Marrowslake striking companions also summons wolves.
6. Finally (and this applies to every dungeon past Mad Dragon), bring injury kits and potions. I've lost count of the number of groups that don't bring enough or don't bring any. I don't understand how people don't have them. It's not like you need to use them on solo content. That's what a cleric companion is for.
