It is pretty stupid of them, to be running a big beta when this game just went open beta. Having everything run on the same services is not what it is cracked up to be.
Scout Tragold - "I haven't lived this long by being brave... it's just another word for stupid."
Cryptic is only allowed 1 server hamster by glorious chinese PWE overlords. All other funding goes to lockbox research.

ST never recovered till many people quit, their architecture to this day has a limiting cap that I think to this day they have yet to over-come. Same thing is happening in this launch that happened in STO and CO.
This weekend was the big open test of the new STO expansion. Seems there is interest in folks playing angry space elves....err, I mean Romulans.
So, while it could be seen a poor timing doing this while NW is doing a double AD event on its second real weekend. It seems hardly fair to blame this all on STO. I think it was a case of too much at once.
I always had a bias against games based off of movies, I used to buy a bunch of them when I was a kid and none of them were that great, so I vowed to never play another movie based game again. Besides I already spent zen here so I guess I'll stick here til I'm bored

I was interested back when the game first came out, but Cryptic makes MMOs in 6 months which means content is limited so Romulans wasn't a choice. Now I just cant go back to STO the ground combat is an abomination and its nearly impossible to avoid it..
I spend all day reading every thread and letting people know this is BETA.
Well, I think it's only fair considering how many times CO and STO have been down because of NW already.

It's worth noting that everything said regarding servers in this thread is pure speculation. Unless, of course, one of you happens to know for a fact that servers or login servers are shared. Link?

It's pretty obvious they share the same server farm.
i'm not sure to face palm or not... simply because i don't have enough hands. but.. but.. it isn't the end of the world. are both games really on the same bloody servers?

Obviously it's the same server farm, I doubt the games run on the same physical machines. But I'd be willing to bet they share the same login servers since that is usually not too intensive...except when everyone in the world is trying to login to two unrelated special event weekends :P

UPDATE: You can now log in. You may be experiencing an error with the launcher. Patiently keep trying to log in. Game servers are up.
No use crying about it now STO is hella popular despite what the "It failed crowd" says
