Companion upgrade books

For the time being I have decided to wait out actually continuing to play the game till the upgrade books become available.

I like the game and all. I just don't feel inclined to move forward now and then have to play purely to catch up later. It seems less than efficient. So for now I log in daily to craft, pray, and utilize the AH while I wait for the books.

Does anyone else feel the same or have different opinions?

As a side note, I am using a Cleric for a companion.

I used the cleric all the way to 60 with my wizard and still use her for doing solo foundry quests. She does get killed quickly, but her heals are percentage-based, so as long as she is active, she works fine. I'd still like to upgrade her, but it's not a dealbreaker for me.

As above, not a big deal at all, I have DC and use the man at arms, he holds up damage pretty well at level 15, would like to see upgrades in the future but its not a big deal

Not a big deal at all. I used the cleric until 50, then I used the wolf. At 60 if you are still using the cleric you are a fool. If you waste the books on the cleric you are a bigger fool.
    1. The cleric heals 5% your max health regardless of his level.
    2. Increasing his level only increases his survivability. Pointless, have faith in your healer.
    3. The only useful pets at 60 are the stone and the cat. The others, including the AoE one, don't do enough damage to merit useflness.
    4. The only exception is the acolyte for a tank which offers damage reduction.
