Looking for verification: Are campfires supposed to remove wounds?

Can someone please provide some insight and confirmation as to whether or not campfires are supposed to remove wounds? My character got killed last night, and when I chose to release I had a wound. I was at a campfire, and decided I wasn't in a rush, so hung out near the campfire while I did some RL stuff around the house. I made sure I had the campfire buff under my character, and came back every 10 mins or so, to make sure I didn't get logged out. I was away for at least 15+ minutes, but the wound remained. At that point, I wanted to get to playing unimpeded, so I just used an injury kit and went about my business...

It worked for me, but I also got wounded and it did not.

Yes every 5 minutes ticks the wound down 1 level.

It's worked for me. Once or twice, I think, it seemed to bug and I had to wait another 5 minutes. But I was tabbed out and I could have lost track of time.

Yes every 5 minutes ticks the wound down 1 level.

However the countdown timer is in 3 minute increments (last I saw) so you will think the time is almost up and BOOM another 3 minute timer. Also, it's 5 minutes per wound and then it downgrades a serious wound to a moderate wound (or w/e)

Can't remove a wound at a portable altar, just fyi.

The timer seemed to 'reset' for me anytime I did something like bring up Professions window or whatever. Once I left it with no other windows open and just sitting there it seemed to go away. So if it's in the background I'm not sure it works. It might but in my experience it didn't but I only messed around with it once.

That doesn't sound right, it is probably a bug and I'll certainly report it as such if I see it doing this.

So wait... that 15 mins timer that I saw when I had one wound meant what, then? I had 3 wounds? Also why would the counter be under the campfire icon, and not the wound itself...

    The kits cost money.

Because oddly enough that is where they put it.

no, no no. There is a 15 minute buff timer campfire icon AND a wound campfire icon if you have wounds.

Right. Also, you can have multiple wounds, if you die several times: head, legs, arms, maybe torso. Each heals separately, one after the other.

The best way to heal wounds in a combat scenario is buying and using bandages, one per wound.

Also I've noticed that some campfires DO NOT apply the second buff (the one that cures injuries). For example, all the campfires in the werewolf zone.

Ok... well I've ONLY ever noticed one campfire buff icon. And like I stated in my OP, I waited at least 15 minutes and this is with ONLY 1 wound. Man... this is annoying.

Well, there should be two buffs, right? One for wounds, and one for ability scores.

Correct. You generally should always see the second one (for wounds) when near a campfire (the first is on as long as you have that 15 minute buff around). If the second never pops up, go somewhere else.

I do know it works without fail anywhere in the main city.

Never worked for me, I sat at a campfire and went afk for about 20 mins, came back my injury was still there. I even watched the timer count down to 0 and start again, and it didn't heal my minor injury. Only way I found it works is sitting in the main city.

The timer under the campfire is the time remaining on the campfire buff.

I have healed minor injuries several times in the Tower District using the campfires.

as far as I've been able to figure out.. if the map shows a "campfire" symbol, then you can heal injury's there... if the fire you're at does NOT show up on the map, and you do NOT see a second "healing" fire icon appear when near them, you're wastin time tryin to heal an injury there.
course, I've been playin for 2 weeks now, n this is the first I've seen this issue... yay noobness.

    cheers.

Not all campfires seem to remove wounds. I know a few dungeon ones don't remove wounds but I figured that might be intentional.

However I also noticed Velosk Campfires didn't remove wounds which is without a doubt a bug which I reported. I never checked if it was ever resolved.

If you press Alt under your character icon there will be a bunch of buffs/debuffs listed. If you are on a campfire which mends wounds you will see two "Campfire Icons" and one will be labelled mending wounds with a timer. The timer is off and starts at 3 minutes. Sometimes wounds will go away the first time you wait 3 minutes and other times wounds will be resolved the second time the timer reaches 0.

Yeah it's a bit buggy at the moment but campfires do remove wounds on average once every five minutes as stated.

    Interesting points.

I think there is sort of bug also though because sometime the injury counter starts decreasing to zero but when it gets there it resets again with the wound not removed (or reduced in severity).

Standing next to a campfire should give two buffs. One is 15 minute duration for +1 stats. The other will show a countdown for wound removal. There are a few permanent campfires that do not apply the second buff and thus do not remove wounds, so always look both buffs.

The time limit is to long imo, anything more then 2 min and people start to lose interest. People should be prepared with kits but its not unheard of for someone to forget to buy kits or runs out ect ect. 3 min is to long and 5 min is just silly, keep your players playing and reduce the time, no one wants to go afk for 3-5 min everytime they die if they are on a difficult encounter. If I ran out of kits I would rather log off and play an alt then sit around for 5 min.

Some fires do not heal wounds, found it out the hard way like the OP. Its not broken if its intentional or it is broken. I find it to be a stupid mechanic, slows down the fun factor. Or buy kits...but then again massively hard hitting boss NPC which spam those attacks often followed by a wide cone or long a narrow cone like the poison dragon where NPC turn the floor red like a Hollywood movie event...yeah either way the entire injury mechanic is stupid. Some bosses seem to have those red circles of death come up very often and as a rogue where duelist fury takes like 3 seconds to "power up" to implement all the tick damage, usually means lots of dodging or sitting around the campfire...which slows down the fun factor cause dodging all the time or sitting on the butt are both boring. Cryptic wants a money sink, how about using those stupid worthless portable altars + talismans = short term buff (like TERA online) instead of short turn boo-boo fixers.
