Difference between rough AD and just AD

So what do I do with rough AD and normal AD?

    you refine rough AD into AD.

    You spend refined AD, and you can only refine rough AD. The whole mechanic is designed to be a limiter on the amount of diamonds you can get through content, and thus directly equate time into reward.

    Sorry guys, pretty new here so my question might (probably) sound stupid but: Where and how do I refine rough AD?

    Hit "I" for inventory, then click the second tab on the left of the window (has picture of pile of coins on the tab), there's a button labeled "Refine Rough Diamonds" or something like that.
