once, out of about a dozen runs, i was able to get all the crystals myself and was rewarded with a chest. people see something shiny on a desk and grab it then at the end just leave thinking the item itself is the treasure. it doesn't help that the big chest doesn't always open driving people away faster since they think there's no reason to stick around.
I have gotten all 3 crystals many times, but have never gotten the gingershroom to drop off of the second boss.

That is because i believe the "gingershroom" bugged after the Feywild Patch hit.
Why they would make it a drop in the first place is beyond me, why not a loot-able node like the rest.
It didn't drop on any of the characters i ran it on before 60 and at 60 it hasn't dropped out of the 3-4 runs I've done on epic.
All things considered, it was able to be recreated player side, has happened more than once, i do believe it qualifies as a bug by these standards.
They all dropped the other night, however the room where the first crystal is the floor and walls disappear with your toon also disappearing quite an effort to get in the right position to actually grab it, but the chests were just vendor trash.
In epic mode collecting them does nothing, which is a shame.
I have collected, all of them a couple of times in a single run. Problem is too many move so fast they have no idea what they picked up, and so when you try and get the chests, they have already left the instance with a crystal/botanical.
