Not sure the title of this thread is correct but I'm wondering if anyone has figured out how it works but I've noticed that if I just hold down Sure Strike the damage continues to rise. On a couple bosses I've managed to get a normal Sure Strike to hit for 15,000+. Using skills or moving seems to reset and I start all over at ~300 and it starts to climb again.
Sometimes I can run around and have it keep stacking, other times it re-sets.
I've only really noticed this on Sure Strike so I'm not sure if this is the same with all GWF skills.
Anyone have some input on how exactly this works?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't really looked at it, but this happened in GW2 where that number is just the cumulative of all the damage of the combo. It usually happens when you are Unstoppable because you're doing it at a faster rate.

It adds the dmg from consecutive hits together into a total

This. Your dps doesn't increase, combat text will add up all consecutive hits of the same damage source (as well as dot ticks, slam ticks, flourish or crescendo). Also, crits and normal hits stack separately.
