[UGC] Campaign - Different Seasons (Feedback request)

edited May 2013 in The Foundry
Greetings,

I just released the first quest for my campaign "Different Seasons", I created that campaign in the past for a D&D 3.5 group I DM'd, I wrote this new prologue story to start working with the Foundry, I hope you'll enjoy it.
I would really like to receive some feedback on balance (tested with level 15 Mage, 31 Cleric, 60 Guardian Fighter), story elements, and typos (since I'm not English).
Different Seasons(NWS-DEDTB2A4E) @BardicKnowledge
  • Prologue - The Lady and the Worm(NW-DPQPJSVTH)
  • Chapter 1 - The Order of Mithra(in progress)
  • Chapter 2 - ???( - )
  • Chapter 3 - ???( - )
  • Chapter 4 - ???( - )

Campaign Introduction:
Ruby leaves fall in the autumn wind from the red maples in the Midwood area of Cormanthor..
A hooded figure rushes through the striking carpet of crimson leaves, down from the gentle hills, heading south towards the Mistledale..
An arrow pierces through the wind..
Scarlet stains on the vermilion leaves, something falls on the ground from the dying hands,
gently rolling down the hill and into a badger's den..

To the west, the Neverwinter city is busy recovering and rebuilding from the sudden undead attack..

Could there be a link between the two places and their unfortunate events?

Campaign Description:
I'll try to make this campaign appealing for different play styles.
There's optional side stuff to do if you love exploring.
If you like reading, there's a lot of optional dialogue choices (but I didn't focus too much on writing for this prologue), if you don't like reading then the yellow answers will guide you to the fastest conclusion of any conversation.
If you like challenges I will design Hard Mode encounters for every final quest boss.
The main quest path is currently balanced on solo players on their 10s-30s, depending on skill and class level 30s and above could be required to bring a friend.
Prologue - The Lady and the Worm (NW-DPQPJSVTH)
Tags: #balanced #exploration #combat #story, #challenge #solo #group, #sewer #crypt #cave
Time: ~30 minutes (without the optional stuff)
Eligible for daily: Yes
Recommended party: Solo (10-30~) - 2+ (35+)
Tested for: (15-60s) All Classes
Quest Introduction:
This prologue quest is the introduction of the story. Once upon a time...

I would really like to thank @moondawg13, @Thunderspank, @Endrek03 and @bobcat1313 for the betatesting and constructive criticism.

Awesome! Just Epic! Everything was done well, the atmosphere , story and battles were well laid out and flowed nicely There were side quests I didn't try, and a choice of Hard or Easy mode on the final battle. Although I managed to solo it I needed a few potions at level 30. Really nice job.

I just ran through this one and it was fantastic. "Epic" sums up the final fight nicely. So far this is the best Foundry quest I've played!

hi duskdweller78 I only see 1 problem with your post. In your campaign description you said "depending on skill and class level 30s and above could be required to bring a friend.". It should say 30's and below. I'm new to neverwinter but I'm looking forward to checking this foundry system out.

The game is easier at lower levels. 30 and above is correct.

So I played this quest. It was very well done. So far what I played it was the best... I really appreciate your dialog skills. You are playing with dialogs a lot. Something I dont have nerves for.
Story telling was nice and dialogs had nice answers. I recommend this quest specially to RP players. It has a lot of detail on both verbal and nonverbal sides of dialogs.
Environment was fine for sewer, easy to access. Special award to the collapsing tunnel.
I appreciate your invisible walls of interaction and other little details of interaction you played with.
The hard and easy mod is interesting feature.. I appreciate you gave your time to it.
I like the way you played with mobs turn to NPC after defeat.
Mobs were fine. I used potions in some places with my guardian character. (I was playing solo)
But even though I died once or twice I could say it was my fault because I made it through after reborn and that means I could made it through on first time if I would try harder.
Just for me sometimes there was too much of objectives. I mean those "reach the place objectives" So sometimes it made me a bit confused but maybe I was not paying enough attention to minimap or so.
But I recommend this quest for sure...
I think you inspired me to be harder on my self in dialog telling...

My quest to review is in my signature.

    Great Job :D

It had an engaging storyline that kept me interested all the way through. You did a good job of having the characters get right to the point instead of trying to explain your entire story in one big wall of text (something I see way too often and makes me skip the dialogue). The characters were memorable and the final boss fight was challenging without being completely overkill on my supply of pots. Your use of lighting and other such FX were well done and I especially like the running through the dark tunnels away from the baddies part.

I played it as a lvl 40 TR with a cleric companion and stuck to the east side of the tunnel since I didn't want to burn through pots if I could avoid it. There weren't too many parts that were overly difficult, the only fight that I had to use 3+ pots was during the final one, just as it should be in my opinion. Even though I wasn't running with a party I appreciate the options to choose a hard mode, an easy mode, or keep it as normal. These kind of options, which I imagine must be tedious to set up, gives a lot of replay ability to your quests.

Overall I think it was excellent and look forward to the rest of the campaign. I gave you 5 stars and a nice tip. You deserve it :P

Note: Also, was there a chicken in the beginning named Thunderspank? I found that hilarious since my quest thread is a jab at him and his rage quit thread (I played his quests and didn't really enjoy them) Trust me I have more humility than that :P

As i wrote on the in-game review, this is one, if not the most, beautiful and well created quest that i have played by far.
Everything looks to me quiet perfect : story (original and not at all obvious as it may seem from the first minutes), dialogues (clever, with possible answers relevant and realistic), encounters mechanics and last but not least, an environment full of details and particulars. Also great use of fx effects and sounds. just a note: I've seen bad, or the first part of the sewers lacks by respawning point? I died once and I had to take a long walk to return at point.
However sincere compliments. I give it 5 stars. I will play early the next chapter

I thought it was very well done as set up wonderfully. From the Old Sailor to the end, it was a great ride. I especially liked the part where you were warned to run and then a few seconds later, everything started shaking. The difficulty was perfect right up to the end where it was very easy, though I guess that happens whenever you've got allies.

That, however, is also where my one personal problem was. When I saw "run", I thought it meant run backwards, so I ran all the way back and then started going North for a bit until I finally just decided to go to the marker and killed the monsters along the way.

    I finished it on a 30 TR. Overall, 4/5.

Just did this one today. Excellent quest overall which I gave 5/5. The difficulty was just right for a solo Control Wizard w/Cleric low 40s. I did die once though when I went through the pit entrance. I had no idea you could search for extra items as you went. I thought those NPCs were just there to be crazy lol I guess i missed out.

The map is big and we can only have one respawn, so I had to put it just in the middle of the possible paths.
Anyway I think I'll borrow Iakky's way of using teleports to the respawn to handle this issue (try his quest NW-DBYLAUS93 to understand what I mean :) )
