So, the Honey Badger, after all, is it worth the price?

So, after all this talks about HB.. I got a final question to the people who used it or maybe even compared his performance to other companions. Is he worth 35$?
Is his DPS still noticeable at higher levels?
How about his survivability in high-end dungeons?

Thanks in advance.

    Tl;dr: not worth it.

    Extended answer:
I've got the Honey Badger (bought by mistake before I realised I got the Panther for free!). It's a total waste of money.

Melee pets risk being buggy (pathing issues and so on). Cryptic have stated they will try to fix this, but that doesn't mean it will be fixed, and/or that it will be fixed soon. Honey Badger is fun, he's cute, but he's suboptimal. I would go so far as to say that the Cleric pet (even with its low level cap of 15) is the best pet for any class in almost any situation. % based heals make it a great healer compared to the actual Devoted Cleric. It tops you up between fights, meaning you spend far less on healing potions. A cleric pet can outheal a player cleric in a dungeon (well, a non-heal-specced player cleric). It's basically amazing, and you get it as a quest reward.

Honey Badger survivability is not great - it's all Offense slots for Runestones, and it dies rapidly to AE or mob melee damage.

I play a Devoted Cleric (level 50 at the moment) so take this with appropriate grains of salt.

the AD cat is by far the best pet, IMO. He's rank 25, I'm 60, and even with not-so-good gear on him, he still gives me ~800 crit and ~800 recovery. And he can't die.

I'm specced for all healing, and yes, I run with a static guild group, but I bet they can count the number of pots they use on an epic dungeon with one hand. When I'm doing 3.5million + healing and the next people are at ~300k, something's working!

I never liked the pets that dont do/take damage.

I tried the cat and the ion stone and never noticed any change in my damage at all.

But when I equipped the dog, I was killing things faster and not taking as much damage.

Cat gives me basically 5% to crit, recovery, and action point gain. I'll do the damage for him :)

Honey Badger doesn't die. Honey Badger goes to sleep and can't be rezzed. He will slowly heal after the combat is over and eventually get up again. It's really annoying but apparently Honey Badger doesn't care...

I haven't got mine to 30 yet or used the panther but I prefer to just use my cat most of the time now and used Galeb Durh leveling since I play a cleric. His DPS isn't terrible but I wouldn't call it great either.

On a side note, since everyone is talking about other good pets, how is the mage quest reward companion? Thanks!

I agree. He holds agro well, has a ton of HP, and does "rock" solid DPS when tanking. I am level 60, and he is Rank 30. He is hitting for around 800 damage a hit when he has 50% HP. He also regens about 2k HP every 10 seconds. As a cleric, Galeb Dur is good enough to tank a champion monster while I kill the adds, or to put me into combat advantage.

Honey Badger is annoyed that he didn't go until the 3rd round to the Arizona Cardinals.

Alright, technically he doesn't die, but he is out of the fight for a while (if it's super long, he'll come back during a fight or so it seems).

Do not buy this honey badger, if he dies you can't res him during a fight. I say it's a bug and I guess the developers say something different.......

I wanted to buy the honey badger but I couldn't name him Ol' Dirty *******. Is there an upgraded healer other than the crappy rank 15 one?

I hate to necro. But I must defend the badger.

Purchased for my level 1 HR and geared it with rank 7 Empowered stones and one rank 7 Indomitable, and +power items with +lifesteal enchants.

This thing solos entire GROUPS of mobs including 2+ ELITES at once, and mission BOSSES. Currently HR is rank 32 and badger is 20. It has never died, not once. I can pull a pack of mobs with an arrow and then LOS them, the badger's AOE swipe will normally get aggro from all but maybe 1 before they get to me (even thought its a Striker companion). I can literally stand there and do nothing as the badger HAMSTER the entire pack.

I also have a 43ish TR (my first character) that I purchased the badger on around level 12 when i saw how bad the panther sucked.
His badger is only 23, and all the above can be said about it, even though it is underleveled.

Granted I don't have any xp with endgame companions, maybe you guys are trying to use a rank 1 companion @max level with no gear.

But, I can promise if you start at level 1 with this companion and give it decent gear you will not be disappointed.
