I have been trying to create a map and now I am saving a lot more.....because after a bit the foundry program starts messing up a lot.
As in it locks my mouse....the mouse pointer will vanish and stay right in the middle of the screen.
Going to task manager I have to end the client from running using the keyboard as I cant get the mouse to scroll or doing anything.
Terminating the client program for the foundry fixes it which means its something the foundry is doing.
Aside from the foundry system doing that.....another issue I have had was trying to get to the differing levels on maps.
For example the cloak tower map....I cant seam to put things or edit anything on the lower levels.
I can wander down there when in play mode....but I cant seam to alter anything down there.
So if anyone knows how to do that...I must be just not seeing the commands for it.
Anywise I don't know if I am getting a pop-up or something and that's causing the strange mouse behavior or if the foundry editor is simply bugged as heck.
Going to take me a while to get the map and things done anywise...so not a big issue....but I wanted to post in case someone might have a work around for this.
I seam to get this issue when creating my own map.

do you mean editing in 3D mode? because you can do that, or do you mean placing things at Y, point value?
The best way to just avoid this is to move objects from the library to the map slower. Someone back in beta suggested, and it appears true, that when you drag some objects from the library panel to the map before the preview has a chance to load is will make your cursor disappear. I just know that more intensive items like clusters and special effects do this more, but as long as I move a tad slower when dragging to the map, I rarely get this.
But if you do then yes, a CTRL-S will bring the cursor back.
Thanks for that help the CTRL -S works great....I have to use it a lot though sometimes.
As to the other thing....I am referring to the actual places with height and have areas over areas...like for the example the cloak tower map.
I put it up and tried to edit it....and found I couldn't add things to the lower levels very well....because I cant see the lower area to place items. And in 3d mode it lets you spin objects but not actually move them.
The actual coordinate changes on objects always places them in relation to the top layer....so the lower area gotten to by the stairs spiraling down I can't seam to do much with....that's what I am referring to.

Took me 10 minutes of mashing my keyboard hopelessly to figure out control S as well (the first time I had no idea what I had done to fix it... the second time my first reaction was to save since I was worried I might have to close it and bam, fixed) . I still don't know what causes it. I couldn't even task manager out of the game because my cursor was completely locked to the center of the screen and constantly clicking no to "Are you sure you want to close this?" even when I would use the keyboard lol.

The mouse bug happens sometimes when you drag an item through the 3d preview box that appears next to it. It can be avoided completely by dragging the item around the box, or as said above it sometimes works if you just do it slower. This does mean you have to spend more time dragging stuff around but it will solve your problem. As for working on multiple levels of height, I can't figure out how to do that either.

You can position objects using numerical values, ie; x, y, and z axis. To place something on another level, you need to adjust the y axis. Make sure to hit 'enter' after assigning the value for it to be applied. It can be a bit fiddly, but ultimately, it's the more accurate way of placing items.

This is the cause. If you click and hold on the item, the preview box will go away after a moment. Then you can drag the item to your heart's content
Of course, even knowing this, I still screw up occasionally, haha. Just too impatient, I guess

There is no need to restart the client it can be fixed by saving the map by pressing CTRL+S, fixes it every time for me

Awesome tip, was happening to me too and I have to alt+f4 or use task manager. Good to know.

when trying to place items, if it's just placing them at the top layer, try switching they Y, coordinate to -20
while in 3D editing mode press [Q] to switch from rotate mode to "translate" (move) mode. (E switches it back to rotate)
