Encounters attack npcs.:(

How the freak can I make encounters ignore npcs and only wanna fight me?!!
I've been trying to fix this for hours to no avail and it's driving me nuts... It's so pathetic to watch encounters attack the npcs around me while I just sit there and watch. Only if I go and attack them do they finally realise what they are supposed to do, for the most part...
Please does anyone have a fix for this?!?! Promise to love you long time.:p

You can try putting invisible walls around the npc, and then destroying them when the pc reaches a point. However, this may not work.

What I have been doing is making sure the NPC just isn't there until the NPC's in the room have been dispatched. It works well for me so far since I worked it in to the quest I have written.

Sadly, due to the nature of my quest that won't work for me, the npc's need to always be there. I may try the invis wall but I'd really like it if there was another way, nobody likes invisible walls.
    Anyone else please?

Invisible walls worked for me, however NPC would change position to stand and cower. This is an annoyance if your story calls for the NPC to stay I'm the animation you give. If that's not an issue for you, that should work. That whole area in the Foundry needs some work in my opinion.

Well, I've decided to use the invisible walls in the end. They do work, and thanks to them the npcs don't have any reason to cower in fear, since the encounters no longer attack them, so they do keep their animations.
I agree, the foundry is way too basic. I've had to dumb down the quest from my original vision so many times.... Every time I came up with a cool thing to add it was like "Neah, you can't do that, tought luck."
Like no bosses for example, how the **** can you add an editor with no bosses?! It's as basic as it gets...:(

Oh well, what can you do, such is life. Thank you for the wall idea guys, it's better then nothing.

I've had the same issues with having to dumb down my mission. I can't for the life of me figure out how to make an NPC ly on the ground and groan in pain. It's like they don't want them to do anything other then stand. And then there are no children npc's at ALL much less sounds for them, like villages don't have children in them or something.

The npcs have a lay down setting. Or a run away setting, there are a few more. The standard is contact, methinks.

There is an animation something like "Lying, Sick" where they will lay on the ground holding their stomach or something. And there is a "groaning" sound you can place. I have an NPC doing exactly this in my quest.

.... no support from the devs/mods here? i am sad! I as a programmer, wonder why there is noch such option you all mentioned. I need this stance. And invisible walls are no way for me to do it -.-

I've had similar issues, like in one of my rooms theres a squad of elite Bane followers and the floor is littered with bodies. But as soon as you engage in combat the bodies start flopping around or standing up and dying again.

Remember, the Egyptians had basic tools and they built the pyramids. Creativity goes a long way.

That said however, I'd love for the foundry to expand and progress also.

I would like to see an option for an NPC to be neutral. This should set it so that it is not aggressive to the encounters, and will allow you to interact with it if needed.

I tried the 20x20x20 Invisibile wall and could never get it lined up. I will have to add a few individual walls and line them up. They always seem to see through them.

I would suggest they have other shizzle to deal with. Most players do not care about foundry. We are in OB.

haha the pyramids are the simplest large structure possible with primitive technology, it is why you see it quite separately in three different continents (no not aliens) it is the simplest solution to the same problem. How to build a large structure, stack stones? I do not have a point, just put my architect's hat on.

This information is good to know. I'll have to keep this in mind when I create some quests. Hopefully they can figure something out.

You're forgetting the part where we seem incapable of building some of these types of structures in modern days without modern tools.

Not sure what your point is, but the pyramids in Egypt took tens of thousands of laborers, using millions of tons of stone, 2-3 decades to create a single useless structure. Is it really surprising the techniques to do this were abandoned and forgotten?

Move the npc's out of the mobs agro range. Test it at higher levels as the mobs agro range increases.
Though you can turn it around to your advantage.
Have the npc's state responses when you save them and also change the name of the mob to slaver or other npc bashing type monster.

Maybe also tack on another room if it is an interior dungeon.

And as far as the Pyramids go they have problems today recreating even moving the stones let alone taking them up a steep incline built up to reach the mid to top ranges of the structures.

    * They recently discovered large crystals buried beneath Myan Pyramids so elaborate it took them 2 years to reach.

Part of the fun is working WITH the limitations, instead of feeling limited by the tools. But that's just me. :)

I've worked with editors for NWN, NWN2, Oblivion and Fallout, and believe me it's always on the shoulders of the modding community to help each other explore the possiblities and find workarounds for restrictions. A creative and motivated community is much more valuable than a handful of devs showing up once in a while in the forums to give basic answers.
And I'd rather have them work on new content anyway ;)

Yea I don't see them making any fixes to the Foundry anytime soon sadly. They only gave us it for us to make content for them, brilliant business strategy, have your customers create content for you and still pay you while making the only reward they get be an in-game currency from other customers lol.

Doubt they'll actually hire anyone who makes really good foundry quests, but I'm always cynical when it comes to big business.

What I imagine is happening right now is Perfect World is profiteering at a higher percent from Cryptic's hard work and PW is making all the priority choices when it comes to upcoming content changes. IMO Cryptic should have just gone indie, in this day in age it's way more profitable for devs. (Look at Kickstarter, Torment: Tides of Numenera, obviously DND fans will back a DND-esque project. No need to have publishers anymore. Look at Riot Games and Digital Extremes to name a few. If you can make a good game you don't need publishers.)
