I really like Cleric. But like, I'm curious here, I originally rolled cleric with the intention of healing dungeons, healing endgame, healing in pvp. Now... I don't know if this is just people trying out of the norm.. but. I see all these other build's talking about crit clerics, and dps clerics. Is it even viable to be healing focused as a cleric? I've really saw no builds that push towards healing focused clerics. Should I just delete my dwarf and re roll her and follow one of these DPS builds? Are they the only thing viable?
Don't follow any guide.Try stuff out for yourself.
DC can be specced in many ways and most builds are efficient at different things.
You said it yourself, you wanted a healing cleric so stick with it.Don't be concerned about what others do.My AOE CC/DD cleric plays awesome for me,but maybe not so much for you or players expecting some healing.
Take some time to think about where you want your DC to be and how your going to get there.
Has anyone successfully made a Healer/Tank yet? If not, I have some research to do...
I've seen defensive built clerics that assume (usually correctly) they're going to be the primary source of threat in a group. Not sure how well they work though.

My second cleric (working on now) is defensive + AOE CC/DD.It's only low level at the moment (24 or something) and not purely defense, but even at this level it plays much better than pure healing (for my playstyle) and mitigates a tonne of damage to itself and party members by way of disruption. It also solos 100% better than my old heal spec.It actually uses less healing (pots and skills) to keep health at happy levels. =P
At low level so far,it can tank for a party with good results,so long as the party understands aggro mechanics and the need to kill adds asap. The benefit of a DC tanking at low levels is that ALL mobs gather to the DC and are made short work of by the party AOE while also still doing damage to the boss,At higher levels I don't think this will be viable tho and it will be relegated to off tank.
With how aggro works for DC all DC specs are off tanks whether we like it or not,I got tired of this aspect of gameplay but love the DC.So I started fresh with a spec built around taking the heat and dishing it back to the mobs.
I'd like to get it to at least level 50 in the next day or two and see where this build leads, but am busy IRL so may only get to level 40 or so.

All of the good cleric gear at 60 has defense on it, so you're going to get tanky stats regardless. Wearing deflection/regeneration gear is a big no, though.

Why? Especially in regards to deflection gear? Are the bonuses not worth it?

Because you'd be giving up gear with crit and recovery on it, which are far more useful in a group situation (more damage, more uptime on Hallowed Ground, more uptime on Astral Shield, etc).
so can all classes heal for do u not really need a healer like in gw2?
All classes can use potions. Having said that though a cleric is still very good to have in groups they can do a whole lot of healing. Group members just need to understand it is not the traditional. Stand back and spam heal spells role.
My cleric is fully healing specced. All I do is heal and hit mobs with sacred flame from time to time.
So far I've gotten a lot of compliments and friend requests, I'd say it's very viable.
The Crit Cleric build in Deistik's thread is basically a pure healer focused on crit heals and fast Divinity/AP gain. 21 of the paragon points are in the Faithful tree. The only dps produced is from at-will spam.

Im "only" 55 atm, but iv seen my fair share of pvp and dungeons.
The single target heal is simply not worth it, I cant target them like you do in other games and my passive healing is MORE than enough.
Also to survive i need damage to kill adds, because 90% of the pugs have no idea that they need to hit them if they are on you.
I dont think pure healer cleric is any good pre 60, not done any 60 content yet

So. Do you think I could get by with taking healing traits and some damage traits? Or do I HAVE to follow those guides to be anything worthwhile?

The game is too new for anyone to have the 'definitive guide for exactly how you must play' :P
Embrace the newness and experiment, that's why they give you so many feats and powers - options
