Active companion slots

Is there some other requirement for these to work? I bought two active companion slots,and I can still only summon one companion at a time.

    active companions arent the ones summoned, their summonable, IDLE companions are in your idle companions tab in your inventory. you can still, and always have only one companion at your side. Active companions can trin while you have another by your side, that seems to be the only difference.

    To expand on that, Companions can take gear. But only when "active." When idle, any gear on a companion is returned to your inventory. So, you can have a bunch of companions all at rank 30, but only three to five will ever be combat-ready at any time.
