Cannot progress past first city - Am I doomed to be a lvl 4 Hero of the North forever

Alright, I have had that bug several times in the past BWEs and I am not alone, here are some older threads:
http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?100361-Connection-problems-while-in-game
http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?100841-Rubberbanding

Whenever I reach the first city after the tutorial, or after I complete that first dungeon quest where you kill the Champion of the nine, I eventually find myself unable to progress any further when in the city.

* I move, but eventually get teleported back to my original spawning point.
* I see people moving around, no latency apparent, fluid and sharp movements, so I am not lagging out.
* I dodge using Shift, but my stamina does not get consumed.
* I cannot use the chat, it tells me it is offline
* I cannot submit tickets
* After awhile, I get a message from the system that I am afk, despite fooling around and trying to move everywhere
* Even after that, I get disconnected from afk'n too long according to the system, again while fooling around and trying to move everywhere.

Everything points to that despite being logged in, and the game knowing it (afk messages, disconnect after idling too much) it is not registering my inputs, and acts as if in not doing anything.

I have tried EVERYTHING. from shutting off firewall to re-download from scratch to activating those shady "force verify" and "safe mode" options in the splash screen. I cannot get ANY service from PWE customer support for a good 24-48 hours (from past BWE experience, which made them pointless because by the time they answered the BWE were over, and then it was to repeat all over again the next event). For gods sake there's not even a way for me to reach a GM in game at all.

I have never seen a game where a bug this severe made it this far without attention, it makes the game UNPLAYABLE for crying out loud ! No matter how much content you got past that city I will never see until this is fixed. This is my last attempt, help me fix this or give me back my money.

I have a friend who has the exact same problem.
We tried a ton of things back in beta weekend 3 and again yesterday. But he experiences the same problems you describe. We have been able to recreate the problem. As soon as he leaves a dungeon instance while in a group he gets "disconnected from reality". As far as I remember he could play just fine by himself.
I think his characters name is Kyra and it last happened on the Mindflayer server yesterday.
I'll just throw a link to this post to my friend.

Your character ability to move around is client side. Do you have a different video card you can borrow to try again? Is your video card quite old?

This has nothing to do with the graphics card.

I am experiencing the same thing (I am the friend Xadfrost mentioned). The game is running fluidly, except for the problems mentioned above. I also made a support ticket on it (on their website, as I cant make tickets ingame), but no answer so far. The game is unplayable.
The problem also happened to me yesterday with a new character when I was running around solo, so its a general problem and not just when in teams.

I seem to have fixed the problem.

I reinstalled my computer with Windows 8, and the problem seems to have gone away. It was suggested since a friend of mine took his laptop to my house and I logged into the same character on his laptop, and it worked.

I using windows 7, you mean to tell me it does not work on win 7 ? o.O. I also don't think it is related to the graphics cards, mine is pretty new and drivers are up to date. I can't believe this issue has gone on for so long. This effectively prevents me from playing the game, it is not making it difficult, laggy, annoying, sporadically crashing... It is preventing me from doing any actions whatsoever.

And still no feedback on this, this is pathetic. If this is not the proper bug report channel, then they need to point to the correct one. As far as software development standards go, I've never seen anything that bad.

This is a shot into the dark, but you could try to use either directx9 or directx11. Those libraries are also used for other devices like DirectInput, DirectPlay etc.
    How to change:

If you're rubberbanding, then that's usually due to packet loss. Run a line quality test. It'll take a few minutes, make sure to fill in the textbox which (usually) asks "What day comes after [X]?" and follow the instructions.

I am having the exact sane problem as OP stated. It might be a problem with low end connection speeds. I only have a 3mb connection. Although on the rare occasion I am able to get into the game. I've also tried everything, I think my next is a full reinstall.

I had the same problem. i was able to finish the first "dungeon" and started rubberbanding when i entered protectors enclave. I read somewhere in the forum, that the program "netlimited" can cause problems. I knew i installed it a year ago but didn't use/run it for some months now. I uninstalled the program and the problem was solved.
Again - you have to unistall it, even if its not running you will have the problem.
Funny thing is, a friend of mine is using it in his network and he has no problems what so ever.

Another thing you can try is to disable "on demand patching" in the launcher( options). you will have to download 2gb but it might help.

Hey everybody - can others confirm if they tried this and it works?

Also, if you're still having the issue, please post your system specs here so we have as much info to work with as possible. Thank you!

changing what direct x you are using no longer seems to be an option.
