This is probably an exceptionally wise maneuver for the forums to employ.
I agree that there should be an actual roleplaying subsection, as otherwise the roleplaying forum topics will disappear under the much more prevalent introductions, help requests and general Dungeons and Dragons chat. Now, it would not be too hard to search for your favored topic or thread, but this would remedy a lot of issues in general about categorization, and seeing as the game is still in Beta, now would be the time for the forums to receive such changes.
The Moonstone Mask in-game is pretty much an RP server. Go there to find fellow adventurers - though the "unofficial" RP shard is Mindflayer currently. The developers will be merging all of the shards into one server called "Neverwinter" soon so there will be no other servers to go to
Though an actual roleplaying server would be nice, that would realistically depend on how busy Neverwinter becomes player base wise, and class wise. While the game already includes the basic Defender, Healer, Controller, Striker combination, and with a fair amount of their lore already present in game and in 4th Edition itself, it could be viable, but that's another matter altogether.
The point remains that a dedicated roleplaying forum for the purpose of roleplayers to actually participate in, on the forums, would be a nice, simple addition.

Role play is an important part of Neverwinter and should have a forum here for players who want to meet others, ask questions and socialize.
Im just joining Neverwinter. An RP server would be the best thing to do. Im sure there are man RP players out there, and it would be awesome to have a place of gathering, there are already some RP guilds forming up.
There's an entire fan-site of roleplayers (http://www.neverwinter-rp.com) and an un-official RP server, though it only matters until the game is merged in to it's eventual single server.
That said, I've heard this requested a number of times I'm not sure why they don't wish to give us a dedicated RP forum.
I would like to see an enforced-by-mods 100% In-Character forum, similar to EVE Online's Intergalactic Summit.
Intergalactic Summit is amazing, and I'm not sure why other games have not done such a thing.
This would be the best situation, but one that might not be entirely possible in the eyes of Perfect World as that would take some time and resources away. If it were regulated by players, with incidents or violations within the forum (for example, a topic owner reports to a Moderator a breach in their roleplaying topic's rules and the instigating individual refuses to cooperate, adjust, and or leave the topic) are up-channeled to Staff members of the site who specifically handle roleplaying, that might be another, more efficient way.
For Dungeons and Dragons I'd say that, RP Is a MAJOR part of it. All Considering loyalists started paper & Dice Rp, for Dungeons and dragons it's only right there should be a Section. But Rather, I think if there isn't a section, there should atleast be a thread, which we could SELF PROCLAIM a server " the Rp Server " that way anyone who wants to rp, can rp on that server. Perhaps someone should make a Thread " Neverwinter Rp. " And perhaps Rp can become possible. The Rp Thread could consist of not only the SERVER, But of Course, Player-held events like Marriages, blah blah blah, etc! I For one would be more than happy to offer the help I can offer for this. I came to Neverwinter for GREAT rp, because it seems RP is dying in the rest of the games I've been playing. And WoW Rp is just sad.
Yep, and it's not just dying because people aren't RPing online as much. Part of what is killing MMO RP is the drama addicts, metagamers, powergamers and god modders who basically push people out of roleplaying with their behaviours.

yes, RP Elitists are a pain in the hind parts.
that's why in MMOs I like to do my RP(when I do RP, I'm casual about it) out in the field, while I am actually playing a game, rather than sitting in the game's Tavern. the Taverns tends to attract the RP Elitist types moreso.
While a dedicated roleplaying shard is possible, albeit not likely, this topic is about adding a subset for the forums - these forums - for roleplaying on the official forums here in dedicated topics, rather than the current situation where there is absolutely no subsection and roleplaying topics are mixed in with countless other topics.

Having gone to the Moonstone Mask last night as my first RP venture since the game started....it was full of trolls. FULL. Did I still RP? Yes. Was it as annoying as all get out? Yes. Did I leave earlier than I would have liked because of it? Yes.
The Moonstone Mask is a horrible compromise to an RP only shard where less trolls will be. But that is my humble opinion.
