What is *NOT* good feedback/criticism

Tonight I was messing about actually playing instead of working on the second installment of the series I'm working on, mostly because I am lazy and don't want to have to rebuild all those maps, and am hoping for dupe fix. Anyway, I popped over to my little map to have a look and see if anyone had offered any new feedback. After getting a look at the comments I was stuck between a face-palm and a laughing fit.

So I just wanted to share a couple of the nuggets of feedback from the nuggets who offered them. I think you'll agree they are extremely helpful.

Elyaypvp writes, "This dungeon was fantastic and caused me to start drinking again in order to tollerate the pain of skeletons. 18 months free of alcohol? Pfft, not after this dungeon, I'll see you soon AA." To accompany his 1 star.. lol

I think the usefulness of this comment is easily evident to even the most docile of creatures. Thank you Elay. lol

ccwhite1 writes, "This encounter made me want to go back to #)(!*#." To accompany his 1 star. lol

Hmm, 6 letters, profane.. Hmmm.... Nothing is jumping out at me, but I'm pretty sure it won't really tell me much more than the other 9 words. Thanks ccwhite1. lol

Lastly, moonlil writes, "Too repetitive and needs less loading screen for the sme map." To accompany her 2 stars.

Now, this one is at least describing what he or she doesn't find appealing, but in a game where you spend 99.9% of your time hacking/slashing/blasting opposing mobile objects into fine powder, repetition is just a reality. So, if I changed it a bit, so that the center bridge segment had the mobs replaced with some fairies and a unicorn that will have a tea party with you before you continue, would that mix things up more? lol Cause I know that's exactly what I would expect to see in the middle of a bridge assault on a keep right?

Also, I could reduce the number of loads a little I suppose, I mean technically I could have only one load on the map, but then I would have to cut about 3/4th of the encounters due to limitations on number of encounters per "map" because the counter does not consider what is and is not presently spawned, which seems like an error. Seems to me that the counter should only consider monsters who are actively spawned at a time in this count, or if I could make my own custom encounters, the mobs might vary a bit more, and I could reduce the number of actual encounters by grouping the mobs I want together into a single encounter. If I could do that then there would be every possibility that I could remove all the loads.

At any rate, I would love to hear some of your favorite comments, the more useless they are the better for this thread.

The worst are the ones that complain about the loot they get from the chest.

The first 2 are pretty funny. But the 2ed one does in fact provide you with some information. You have to learn how to take what the masses say and turn it in to useful feedback. For example, don't read it like "Too repetitive and needs less loading screen for the sme map." Read it like, The map was a bit repetitive, You may have to work on pacing, make the fights a bit closer or spread them out a bit more, Add a fetch quest or a npc to talk to near the middle of the map. With the loading times it sounds to me he does not like the amount of portals you use. Try to use less of them, make more of the maps connect or use less areas. Maybe make the quest a bit shorter and cut out any fluff.

This is how I read reviews from the masses. But sometimes you get the 5 star rating that just says "Balls" lol there is nothing anyone can do with them.

I actually got that 5 star rating "Balls" comment. I've even gotten one that said "Horse" so I assume they were a team.

    Humans.
There is a rumor floating around that I am working on a new foundry quest. It was started by me.

It's a pretty straight forward quest. You fight your way into an inner courtyard of a keep, over a bridge. lol

I'll tell you what I should do, is put the original mistake back in, just to mess with them.. Let me tell you what I did. So when I first placed the portal, that the quest giver is going to guard for us while we push across this bridge, I liked the graphics of one of the actual portals right? Because I'm all about the Win, I never even consider the possibility that someone might fail, or just give up and try to actually use that portal. So you know, I just dropped both pieces on the platform, but what I didn't realize, was that I didn't set the Y axis on the second piece. Now, this worked perfectly well, aesthetically, and after a while I just sort of forgot about that other piece, and assumed that no one would ever fail so I never thought about it again.

Then I sent my little brother into the quest to see if he could solo it. I won't lie, it's a really hard solo, I can do it, but it takes me a LONG time, and I use a lot of pots. So of course I recommended it for 2+ players, but being the kind, loving, and oh yes, thoughtful brother that I am, I sent mine in alone.. /cackles

So we're on vent as he's describing the incredible ball stomping he's enjoying, and you know I'm laughing so hard my sides are getting sore, because he's very graphic sometimes and gives a full play by play, which also includes squeals, screams, and a worried voice that always cracks me up. So while I'm having all this fun at his expense, he decides that discretion is the better part of valor and makes a mad dash for the portal.

    Then I hear....

"OMG!!! NO!!!!! This hateful b*tch has SET ME UP THE BOMB!!!! This portal doesn't take me back to the warm safety of Protector's Enclave!!! It teleports me into the LAVA!!!!!!! OOOOOHHH IT BURNS!!!! Hmm, but only for 20 a tick.. I see why you had to put up the invisible walls now... You <insert string of curse words and be creative>..."

Naturally, it dawned on me immediately that I had left that other end of the portal in the lava, and never really got back to working out an exits strategy... My bad man, my bad.. /snickers

Nepht I should have known from that sig that you were up to no good. An egyptian cat sphynx thingy cannot be trusted, now stop trying to review my review of my reviews before you cause a cascade failure and we all have to reroll GWF's.. :P:P:P ;)
