Nope, I hate crafting and don't want another job in my game. It's all about the dungeons and combat for me. They are superb!

You can always put stuff on the AH for the lazy sods who can't be bothered crafting.

I think the crafting system is interesting and will see how it goes before determining whether it's rubbish or not.

I never was much of a crafter, more of a farmer. I'll gladly unload all my goodies to others though.

After playing WoW, GW2, Aion and TERA, crafting in Neverwinter is actually good.

In the above MMOs, I would always have to go to a crafting station and simply sit there click click click to craft, or queue up work and afk, even though I could do a dungeon, PvP or anything really other than something as mundane as traditional crafting. D:

Here, I can craft and actually PLAY at the SAME TIME! I might actually reach the maximum lvl in crafting unlike in any MMO i have played before!

Having said that, it could be improved like being only able to craft more items (currently, shirts and pants) which u cannot get elsewhere such as from killing monsters by chance, so that it stays relevant even if you are crafting a lvl 30 item and u r lvl 60. Basically, make it so that crafting "adds" to a player's overall gear that gives bonuses which cannot be obtained elsewhere so that regardless if u r lvl 10 or lvl 60, there is an incentive to craft lvl 5 items because they have rare bonuses that a lvl 1 or lvl 60 would always want.

Aye i with ya on that one pal. This crafting does sucks big time. I have even tried to sit around just crafting for hours just to try it out for starters only to find out about the only thing I could actually use was a shirt to go under my plate and the pants for the same thing. Believe me I do think this crafting deal was an after thought on their part which I find totally stupid they could have came up with a better way of doing this. After all the years this game was announced it doesn't seem like any of the players who voiced ideals to them was even listened to at all.

@l1d3n dude really I don't think you should have even made a comment on this page due to the fact that you had nothing to add of importances.

This is my first delve into crafting in a totally F2P game. I have crafted in EQ!, EQ2m SWG, TOR, and a ton of others....I loved it. They were deep and fufilling to my crafter desires.....especially EQ and EQ2.

So far I find the crafting in this game to be an afterthought...not much form or concept.

You must pay for most of the gear from green up to be sucessful in crafting anything of value.

I am levle 8 in all my trades so far and find that crafting is becoming tedious and unfufilling.

I do like the concept of rare chances, with timers, to do some rare recipes....much like STo has the DOfF system and there are commons, uncommons, rares, and very rares quests.......

Overall i will drop crafting in any form id I do not see any benefits......noone wants a +1 chainmail or +1 sword especially when this game is a game where MAGICAL ITEMS drop like rusty daggers from gnolls in eq1. There is soo much magical loot dropping that crafting is nonsensical.
Today we fight the GAULS......monstrous and HAIRY beyond reason.

I agree! In Runes of Magic, crafting was mind-numbingly dull. So I hardly did it.

In this game though, like you said, we can craft and play. Which is really, really nice.

I agree that more items should be available, but my TR is also wearing a shirt I made him, so that is nice! I'd never crafted anything that I actually could use before!

I disagree. Best crafting of any MMO I've played, simply because you don't have to sit around doing it, and you can do it outside of the game.

The rate at which crafted gear levels vs your character leveling is hard to tune with this system, though, since crafting advances in real-time, while character advancement is game-time. But consider that crafting only really needs to be leveled on one character, then you've got gear for all your alts.

More varied and customizable options for final products would be nice (Devs: check out DDO's crafting), but the core crafting system is great and shouldn't be changed.

I actually make a fair amount from crafting. Granted I'm posting crafted junk that I'd never use myself... but somebody seems to be buying those items.

dont spend AD on crafting. I can go over crafting if anyone wants via a stream, just send me a pm. You can craft +6 items at Lv20 via the Rare section.

Leadership offers AD, exp and some boxes for everyone.
rest of them offer pants and shirts which are craft only, ignore the rest till you're Lv20.

Try to craft something that doesn't cost vendor mats.

The only game with an enjoyable crafting system, for me, is Runescape. Sadly, I hate every aspect of Runescape besides its leveling/crafting, though, so I don't get to enjoy that wonderful crafting/profession system.

Anyway, this game has crafting? I didn't even notice because of all of these dungeons and dragons.

I quite like it. Reminds me a bit of SWTOR's crafting system. (But only a bit.)

I think it's great. I only wish assets dropped somewhere besides the booster packs. Same with those Arcane Crystals. Anyone know the best way to collect these?

i think crafting should either be exactly like neverwinters - easy and simple OR it should be extensive and deep - but than provide more than the usual mmo 0815 crafting which is super boring. Pathfinder online takes an interesting path with crafting where you will build a smithy for example and then also hire hirelings that smith together for you (at least for some parts of the things you need) but it will be a lot deeper than neverwinters or normal crafting. I also like the idea from monster hunter to craft body parts from your enemies into new weapons and armor...but as said, i very much prefer this system over the 0815 crafting from lets say guild wars 2.

I'd agree.. if you're referencing the early SWG. They had the best crafting system, but then destroyed it (along with many other mechanics).

It's a more annoyingly grindy crew skills crafting system that I saw in SWTOR in my mind. They really need to tweak the bulk crafting timers, it should be advantageous to craft in bulk, not detrimental (4 hours to bulk craft with 1 asset, versus 10 minutes to single craft with 1 asset, the only difference being about 2.5 silver worth of vendor materials, hmmm....)

this system is identical with the assignments from Star Trek Online, you send a duty officer in a mission, or more like a personal reputation project . Yes, by the time when i would "craft" something, im already to higher lvl to wear/equip that. Wish there was a chance to craft blue gear or purple gear by chance like in Perfect World International. On PWI i was so lucky that in 2 days i crafted 2 gear pieces with 2 stars (blue gear) , wanted for Craftsman or Tailor lvl 2 and sold them in auction house for 1.2 mil each.

Well, I can't see how anyone could say it doesn't suck. There's no real depth to it and it's something you do in the background with no effort. I can see why some may prefer that, but as an actual crafting system, it sucks as a matter of fact. Which doesn't really bother me as I'm not really into crafting, though I do like amassing mats and things in general. But yes, there's really no crafting system yere, just a distraction.

    No idea.

I have time to play every morning and every night, but the game either has 2 hour ques or the servers are dead every single morning and night since open beta started.

I'm level 6, when I get to level 10 I'll let you know.

I don't mind the crafting, but it really does seem like a bit of an afterthought. One thing though, the Gateway disconnects on me so quickly I am constantly logging back in to collect my short tasks...very annoying.

The only thing that makes me think the crafting is an afterthought is the fact that you cannot upgrade the Common Assets (people or tools) to Uncommon. I guess some of the task are stupid too. 10 minutes (no bonus) to get 2 ore. 6h to get 10 ore. /sigh Even if you had all Epic Assets the time would change to 2h. 2h for 10 ore.. or 50 minutes (no bonus) to get 10.

Crafting in this game is all about the end level "rare" recipes that pop up from time to time.

It won't likely produce items you can use while leveling because, like you said, if you don't use AD or Zen assets to speed it up, you will most likely have outleveled the items you can craft by the time you are able to craft them.
