Die Immediate On Test

Hey, all. I'm new to the Foundry and have just finished creating a test quest. I watched helpful videos and read some well written manuals. Great stuff!

So, here's my problem. I played the quest over and over again, looking for things to refine. Then suddenly I stopped being able to play it from the start. Whenever I do, I die immediately. I tried respecing, I even tried changing the starting location. Nothing seems to work.

Is there an easy explanation for why I would die immediately on start? Or is more information needed?

Thanks!

I don't know if this is what you're running into, but I've noticed that the "Play from start" option tries to put you in the neverwinter map (or wherever your initial hook/public adventure zone is) at a coordinate based on wherever you last were, even if where you last were was on a completely different map. This means you often end up at an invalid location in the middle of empty space, and dead.

When this has happened to me, I play from the spawn point of my first actual/custom map (right-click it in 2d mode and hit the "play from here" option in the context menu), then use the abort exit to go back to the neverwinter/adventure zone immediately preceding that map (which would be the map "play from start" is launching), but now I'm in a valid location. Then I exit back to foundry and hit the "play from start" option, and it starts me at that remembered, valid location.

Have you tried resetting the map by pressing the Reset Map while you play? That might set you back to spawn.

    I hope this helps you!

Also depends on where your spawn point is and what map your using, keep in mind that some indoor maps specifically the Cave maps have a kill volume that will insa kill anything that touches the volume. It's there to prevent players who fall from being stuck at the bottom of a map.

The way to get around this in preview mode is to set your avatar to untargetable.

Another thing that you need to watch out for and that will kill players in the game is the position of your respawn point.

Always be sure to face the respawn point towards a open area on the map and not towards walls (or other areas you dont want players to go).

Also make sure your spawn in not slightly underground *Y Axis*
There is a rumor floating around that I am working on a new foundry quest. It was started by me.

Thanks for all the tips. The first one I tried solved the problem - changing myself to untargettable then refreshing the map.

Woo hoo! Back to designing. :)
