In my new quest I am working on, the quest starter object is the Temple Steps Fountain in the Protectors Enclave. In the foundry I can set an entire dialogue for this item that describes what is going on and what the PC is doing at the fountain, however when I go to the map to test run it, all it says when I mouse over the fountain is Press F to go to the next map. I hit F and it takes me to the next transition map. My question is, where did the dialog go? It isn't even showing up as an option, even though I waas able to flesh it out in the editor. Anyone have any ideas?
I never tried adding dialog to items on the protectors enclave map other than NPC.
Maybe you set your exit to that item too? Or maybe you did not set a exit yet? If you do not have a exit set for a area it will say hit F to go to next area even while your walking away or doing nothing.
Or, maybe you set the dialog on the item but did not make a dialog quest path for it. If you make it a quest path to read the dialog then the exit will not show up until your done with the quest.
Hrm... If I remember right, I tried the dialogue objective first, but that only allows you to "talk" with NPC's on that map. It doesn't give you the option to choose an object as the dialog option. Now the fountain is also the exit to the next map as well, but the interact with object objective has a advanced dialog editor that you can use. The problem is the dialog doesn't start when clicking on the fountain. I'll have to check it again. Maybe there's a setting on the object that says activate at "this" dialog prompt? I dunno. Hard to dothis without it staring me in the face lol.
You want the "Examine Object" story objective; this lets you interact with an item and have a dialog.
EDIT: Also, the fountain cannot be both interactable/dialogable as well as the exit at the same time. You'll need to use invisible interaction spheres or two fountains (hiding and showing the appropriate one as needed), or some other trickery.
The quest is supposed to start in the protectors enclave at the temple steps fountain. As far as I know, you can't add, or manipulate anything on that map. Is that correct?

Yes, you're correct. Sorry I hadn't really noticed the part about the fountain being an object in a public adventure zone.
you could make the temple steps tell them to go to the fountain, or something of that nature. Then you can have both desired affects... that is if you can use the fountain.
I just thought of something. If we aren't allowed to edit public quest maps, how did the author for I Am Slayer turn Blacklake District into his play thing. :-)
Oh wow...good on him! That makes that adventure even more impressive if he did. Looks like I may have to create a little park within the city folks can go to to start this quest then. Thanks for the info.
There are a lot of doors though, or ways to portal to a new map, and you can go from map to map, so on the cryptic map of any zone, you could have the adventurer go to any number of places, and each one could be a map you made. This effectively puts the adventurer in the zone, and allows your quest to run alongside the others that are there, that arent in the foundry.

Maybe its a bug.
