Quick question about the Open Beta

Sorry for the silly questions but I've not been keeping up to date and just wanted to check. I had a quick look but could not see the info i wanted.

Open beta starts very soon. Is this a traditional beta in which anything that happens will be wiped before official launch, or is this actually the official launch and they have just called it a beta to cover themselves in case of instability?

if its the former does anyone know if there is an official launch date set or is that still to be decided?

    The open beta here you can see as a soft launch. Nothing will be wiped.
    There has not been an official launch date set.

    It's a soft launch, meaning that nothing will be wiped!

    They dont "cover" themselves, many MMO's does this to ease the load on servers and since it's a F2P game, the extra feedback will be great for them.
