So I got the GWF to 60 I have done multiple dungeons as DPS and even as an off tank build.
Firstly DPS, the GWF seriously lacks DPS potential. To be honest there is no reason to have a GWF in a group. Get a cleric, GF, CW, and 2 rogues or 1 rogue and 2 CW. The ONLY semi good thing about the GWF is he is a tid bit tankier than the CW and Rogue. He offers nothing special to the group. I was in a group just now with 2 guildies and 2 pugs, I was only above the tank in DPS and than it went 300k below the next 700k below the next and 1 mil below the next. CW and Rogues excel at what they are purposed for, GWF is like the ****ty jack of trades.
Tanking is just as bad, you can build to take some punishment thats for sure, but the issue I had was I could not hold agro. I grabbed every threat generating feat on the tree and I was still losing agro because the amount of DPS coming out of rogues and CW is just plain insane. I mean just from talking to my guildies who are rogues I could easily see there is something seriously wrong. Rogues flourish or whatever the at will is called can crit for over 20k while for the GWF to get a hit around 20k they need to use a daily.
So let me just point this out a rogues AT WILL attack can do more damage than a GWFs most powerful daily. Anyway I have decided to hang up my GWF till they get fixed. I plan to swap over the a Cleric.
TL:DR Version - If you want to play a DPS play a rogue for single target and CW for AoE avoid the GWF its laughable how bad it is compared to the other DPS classes.
I have had a similar experience, but admittedly I am not 60 yet. They overnerfed between Bw3 and BW4 and now the GWF is just a steaming pile of fail. Dissappointing because I really enjoy the playstyle. I hung it up and rolled a GF.

whos gonna tank the adds while they eat your CW/cleric? the MT is tanking the boss
remember pallies in WoW? they wernt musts to have in the beginning, priest mage warlock warrior rogue teams could take on anything without them. shamans were unnecessary too. theyre just an all round class to add dps and off tanking capabilities

Pallies in WoW were the best 5man tanking class from Release to patch 1.9, then they got nerfed into Healbots (and they were no longer supported by any new tanking gear until TBC).
Then TBC came and paladins got slowly buffed into being main tanks on their own, just as good as warriors and feral druids overall.
Uh yeah, sorry for the offtopic. Somehow when I read the words "WoW" and "Paladins" I get lots of memories coming back to me all at once ;D

GWFs are not good offtanks either because unless they specially spec for it they are not particularly survivable, and if they DO spec for survivability, their DPS is not sufficient to hold agro over anything - particularly clerics.

I was wondering what happened to this class. It felt so sluggish and slow compared to when I played it when it first came out. Guess I may as well make a TR like everyone else.

Dunno what peoples issue with GWF is. Im sitting pretty nicely on dps in dungeons. Im usually nr 1 or 2, sometimes 3, depending on the setup ofcourse. GS is 7.9 atm.. Only place where GWF lacks dps is burst fights. Boss fights im able to dish out some pretty sick numbers, as well as heavy mob fights. Its best to always try and stay in combat and make sure you at least get a few hits in every 10 sec, so chain pulling ups a GWFs dps quite a bit. Im usually not screamish about running head first into a bunch of mobs, since i can just pop Unstoppable before they get me down, then a potion, and im good to go (rinse repeat) - usually by then rest of the grp has caught up and mobs are dead..

You realise dps is damage per second right? Spending more time doing damage than someone else doesn't change dps. If you mean total damage, then yeah, getting to the fight well before everyone else is a solution, but it's a pretty fricking stupid one ;p
Seriously, the GWF is an extremely fun class to play, ability wise. It is in serious need of a damage and suvivability buff. The devs need to decide if they want it to tank or DPS sufficiently, because at the moment it is inadequate in both rolls

You know that GWFs dmg is largely based on short term buffs/debuffs? Which is why being able to maintain, especially the buffs, will add a ****ton of dps. Im not saying: "Rush 5 miles in front of everyone else while you lolol bash your buttons to inflate your total damage", im saying that maintaining the buffs, will help you alot.

I know what makes GWF's damage a lot better, and that is unstoppable, so being out of combat and losing any determination is bad. And you were saying exactly "Rush 5 miles in front..." that for anything other than Boss fights.
my 2 cents. I like the look and idea of the class. played a TR to see damage compared to GWF and was like wtf. sure GWF has higher AC but when that AC amounts to not much difference when taking blows or not some thing is wrong. honestly I can take out single targets faster and not get hit with a TR then I can taking hits and AOEing with a GWF. I find a GF does more damage. and with a sheild you take none.
now lets talk a out that first right mouse button ability. the damage is to low for the type of attack it is. if you have to stand there and charge the damage should be equivalent.
every class seems ok to me but this one. I want to play a GWF but not at its current state. just be playing my rogue till then.
I only played the Wizard and really left me with a bad first impression. How can casters lack mobility, they can't run and move their hands about when casting? Same reason I left Rift and Tera, although AoC Necromancers had some dots to toss but they also fell short. Any caster class offer mobility?
My dream game would be DDO online combat with AoC graphics and WoWs content. It's a good dream and maybe before I grow too old where picking up a sippy cup is a challenge this will happen!
I'm a 56 right now with this class and it's not bad in PvE, it's bad in PvP. This class is bellow useless in PvP. The only good thing about it was sprint, but now that I'm a higher level everyone just has a mount. I can not express how bad this class is in PvP, CW won't let you do jack squat, TR will out DPS before you can even drop half their health, and now that I'm a higher level, it's literally impossible to kill a cleric because they can heal themselves faster that you can do damage. I'm going to get this class up to 60, but then I'm done until this class gets better.
At 60 the gwf in pvp is the only class that I'm pretty sure I can't do anything about. I play a cw. If I'm in a 1v1 against a good gwf, they pretty much win.
