Party Item Loot Rules

I ran the Cloak Tower dungeon earlier with one friend and the rest of the group was random, and the tank not only sucked at tanking, but he needed on EVERYTHING regardless of whether it was for his class or not. I would like to see a loot rule taken from Tera; if the item is a blue or better and can be used by someone in the group, nobody else can roll for it. Having items stolen by some *** just because he can is completely unfair, especially since you're doing just as much work as (and in this case, a hell of a lot more than) the person stealing the items. I know there are going to be people out there who ridicule this idea. I don't care. The loot thieves made random groups suck in WoW, and they'll make it suck here too.

I agree, but it Doesn't need to be automatically pass either, greed option can still exist. Problem can still exists if someone that has said item (or better) could still roll need and steal from another who might not and that can't really be fixed easily, and is a whole other problem.

I like the way Blizzard addressed this. If you can't use it, the only option available is either pass or greed.

I have yet to get a single drop in any group instance because there's always one or more people rolling need on everything. I've run quite a few too, capped my AD on multiple characters last night.

Is it so hard to add an "Need before greed" (you can only roll need on items that you can use) option?
I ask because I thought this would be pretty much standard in 2013 mmorpgs. -.-

Personally I hate the need/greed/pass pop-up - it's annoying. I wish it were reversed also: pass (default), greed then need and I wish there were an option in preferences to set your preferred default (and only the option to default greed or pass) - when delving with a group I prefer to just ignore that stupid thing. The the rest can just have the drops, I don't care. I'm only interested in the super chest and the XP I get.

But that darned pop-up is annoying, at the very least it needs to be made smaller and moves to the side or something.

    Just my too sense.

Yeah...not real sure why this isn't implemented in this game. Pretty lame really...

Sadly I fear they are doing this intentionally to force usage of the AD auction house. If they were going to change the loot rules I think they would have long ago changed it.

Yeah, my tinfoil hat is a little lacking in the luster.

I'm hoping they implement this as well. I rarely need on items, even less so in a random PUG. So I have a special sort of contempt for "those guys" who purposely wait to roll last and intentionally need after everyone else has greeded.

Also agree they need to revise the mid-combat pop-ups. They are exceedingly distracting, and for me it's awkward to have to maneuver my hands to hit the SHIFT qualifier and a number key in the middle of a fight. I know I could alter the keymap, but I'd rather see a more efficient group-loot mechanic introduced.

Isn't there loot rule options under the party menu when you right click your portrait?

Could be. Personally, I think it hurts the Ah because I think many that roll need on everything actually don't bother IDing the bulk of the items and simply sell them for vendor trash.

Although I could be mistaken and those could be the same ones that rant from time to time about how the game doesn't drop enough ID scrolls XD

Iam not really going to touch the part about the loot rules seriously I do believe they need to fix it. However I would like to touch bases on you about the tank sucking part. I hope you can understand that it is not really the tank sucking it is the tank specc which is purely screwed up. The mechanic for the tank needs to just go it is not even close to be worth the effort on finding a boss among all the mobs and holding down on TAB just to loose that aggro. I have never seen such horrid tanking specc in a game before and all I do is play a tank. I have to seriously fight for aggro off everything in the game and I have my threat to the max. I am all about Def and Aggro yet this system they have set up is just completely stupid

I completely agree with the OP. I have run CC about 8 times over the past couple of nights trying to get a couple of rare upgrades for my Wiz, passing on everything I didn't need or couldn't use .. to finally have a robe drop and a GWF roll and win. More surprising was the attitude of the other party members of "Meh, it happens". If anything makes me quit playing it will be the lack of need vs greed loot rules.

It should stay how it is, but reduce the roll a person using greed should get or something

instead of being able to roll 1-100, make them be able to roll 1-80

ehh what you say makes no sense, as if anyone rolls need the ppl choosing greed wont roll at all, the problem is that even a rogue can choose to roll need on a item that only a guardian can use, this is what should not be possible.

So yeah i agree with this fix the loot rules so that only items you can use on your current class can be rolled need for

A change to the loot rules such that you cannot Need items you can't equip would be very welcome.

i'd like to know if someone's choice of etiquette is ground for kicking someone from a party. i was in the orc skirmish and someone was picking up items in the middle of the fight so they were popping up. now as a rule, if it's something that i can use and it is undefinable, heck yes i'm going to choose need. if it's not something i can use, i usually pass... especially in a public game. this freaking guy in there had his panty in a wad because i chose need twice and i didn't even win any of the rolls either. sometimes, i'm just trying to get that window off of my screen and i hit whatever. but shortly after that i found myself back to where i was before i was transported to the skirmish. it would be nice to have a setting you could put for auto greed or auto pass for items that aren't your class. but i can't understand someone kicking another person out of a game for this. isn't this a role playing game? what if my character is a greedy jerk? come on people... i'm not sitting on a huge pile of purple items! wah!

    1) They've stated they're working to improve loot rules;
    2) Blacklist people who are rude and/or need on everything.

    Problem solved.

    Two things...

    1. Search is your friend (though this is the only forum I have ever seen without one). Can always just hit the next page option and just look at any number of butt hurt individuals lamenting about the same thing.

    2. Stop PUGing, cause there is no rule for looting with random individuals. Why does there have to be enforced rules when you force yourself to PUG?. Roll with a close group of friends or guild mates.

    OP:

    1) Yes, the loot rules need fixing. People are idiots, and scumbags. Totally agree :)

    2) Actually, even if the player was good, it's pretty much impossible to tank in this game right now. Of the five classes, only Control Wizard and Trickster Rogue are close to working properly right now. Guardian Fighters can't tank (threat building.. doesn't work properly), Great Weapon Fighters do rubbish DPS, and Devoted Clerics have completely non-functional threat reduction feats, and thus end up with every mob in a fight on them. The chances of a tank holding mobs away from a healer, for example, are next to nil. As things are, DPS have to burn things down, and use DPS threat, seasoned with a bit of control wizard crowd control. In a good party, the DPS babysit the cleric, who still has to kite like a HAMSTER. In a bad party, people whale away on the largest mob, ignoring adds and screaming "HAEL ME U ****". It's a mess :)

Until the loot system is changed, always roll need on everything and remind your party to do that same. With the loot system as it is right now, rolling need on everything is the best chance you have of getting anything and it’s the only fair way for a party to divide loot.

It’s not very efficient because you will end up with other peoples things but you can AH them for enough to purchase your own stuff.

And you don’t have to be scummy about it. You can offer to trade or give away anything that you have. But the only way to have the same chance as a loot ninja is to roll need.

I do hope it gets changed and given how many games have had to come up with solutions to this very same problem I am left in astounded wonderment that the staff never considered this before they dragged this heap into open beta.

Always roll need on everything and remind your party to do the same.

I Pass on most items, unless I actually think I might have a use for it. No need to be a prick about loot. The system does need to be changed, or more options added to the party leaders screen. I really don't like any of the options currently available.

    Wow... dear lord...

Obviously, you missed the entire point.

Dont NEED Gear you cant use... Then your class gear you will get...

Greed what you cant... no class in group, it is then the same as all needing...

I have never seen such bull sh*t loot wh*res in a MMORPG then this game. At least make it seem like you have played an MMORPG and have some consideration.
