I have always played tanks all the way back to EQ1 up thru wow and swtor aion tera rift and lots of free MMO's.
Yet this might be the first MMO i skip tanking, i find the GF to be annoying as heck right now only 15 and tanked two skirmish and one run in CWT.
in all 3 runs keeping the mobs on me was more anoying then any MMO i have played to date, if i blow my aoe taunt at the start then when adds come i got nothing to peel off the cleric, if i save it my DPS is so much lower then rogues i cant keep aggro anyway, and if i use aoe taunt the rogues get aggro anyway shortly afterwards.
I am used to being able to charge in hit the mobs with my best aoe skill/damage attack in other MMO's and keep my rotation going and never lose aggro and no matter how i try it seems far to frustrating to keep aggro in NWO then it should be.
Am i just missing something?

No your not missing anything. the GF is not built to tank groups of mobs. I think that was supposed to be the GWF role while the GF held the one big guy, but that was handled poorly. The only positive things you get from GWF are they guys who are already 60 and spec pure damage. Everything else from level 1-40 no matter you build is a Crapfest

Something that I think the developers kind of dropped the ball on is making sure people were aware that you don't need a tank or a healer to pull through a dungeon-- or that their roles aren't as static as they are in other MMOs.
I came into it the same way as you did, OP, and from the skirmishes and dungeons I've done as a lvl37 guardian, you just have to make sure the elite mobs/boss are on you. You can't grab everything and you have to trust that everyone else in your party can handle one or two normal mobs on them.
Unfortunately it means people will blame the tank for the good part of the beta until they understand how tanking here is not the same as in other MMOs.
GWF is not; NOT a tank. He is a Striker with a two handed Sword. Strikers in D&D are the damage dealers. Compare him to say... a Fury Warrior in wow. Its not a tank, its a damage dealer who does more AOE damage than any other class.
Also no Bei, you are not missing anything. I have heard from some that it gets better later on as you level, but the lower levels do seem disappointing.
Well said Aldemm... Now if only the Devs would stop dropping the ball on everything else and make the playerbase aware of anything they have implemented.
From my cleric perspective (lvl 32 only for now) there is not much you can do to keep aggro from my heals. In group content my cleric burns potions faster than any other class in the game. I might just avoid dungeons and skirmishes altogether.
Tried lvl 31 skirmish yesterday and on last boss there are what 20 adds? It was insane I held aggro on majority of mobs like a pro tank. For now I'm experimenting with different approaches to help tanks but I think I'm losing this fight.

I have learned to tell the Ranged (or rogues if wizard) to kill adds first and try to focus them. Usually this is all thats needed.
Also GWF do amazing AOE damage and eventually people will figure this out. Once that happens all the GWF's will be on add duty and we wont have to deal with it as much (in my opinion).
